I think the difficulty of the West and Golden State's relative youth are causing them to be underestimated. their point differential/SRS/etc has them lined up as a borderline top 10 team all-time. They're elite at everything and they have no weaknesses.

I would consider the Warriors not winning the title this year to be about as likely as the Raptors winning the East. It's a solid value proposition at even money, let alone with any sort of odds (though you're probably better off just taking the Warriors moneyline game by game in every game on the off-chance Curry gets hurt or something.)

I think the Warriors lose 2-3 games in the first three rounds combined. 4, 4, 6 or the like.

Warriors are being disrespected

MartinToVaught wrote:Warriors fans need to stop making excuses for last year's playoffs. Funny, when we lost to the WCF-bound Grizzlies in the first round the year before with a hobbled Blake, it was a massive failure and nobody mentioned the injuries. But you can't bring up the first round last year without Warriors fans crying about Bogut. Last I checked, you still had Curry and Klay. Also, as long as we're making excuses, our whole franchise descended into chaos right in the middle of the series because our senile piece of crap former owner couldn't keep his mouth shut. We wouldn't have needed 7 games to beat you without that major distraction.

That distraction was stupid for both franchises and marred the series. GSW was ready to boycott game 5? with the Clippers in solidarity and didn't come out ready to play. It was a wash and I would say it affected both teams negatively for a game a piece.

Also I think a hobbled Blake is a little more useful than Bogut missing for the entirety of a 7 game series (in which Lee was also hobbled as was O'Neal after Davis decided to take his knee out). I honestly can't believe you're comparing a Blake that's at least healthy enough to play to Bogut missing an entire series.

It's not an excuse. It's reality. If the tables were turned and GSW could barely beat the Clippers without DJ and Griffin with a bad hamstring even with home court advantage, I'd have given props to LAC and been concerned about how good the Warriors actually were. I certainly wouldn't have said they were "making excuses" if Clipper fans pointed out that they played well with no viable centers and a battered front court. Just as I wouldn't have plugged my ears and said lalala-excuses if the Warriors happened to beat an Ibaka-less OKC this year if KD came back.

And there's no real shame losing to the Grizzlies, hobbled or not. We know the feels. People jumped onto the Clippers because they were crammed Lob City all season and were becoming the unlikeable team you're seeing now.

Anyway, the point wasn't to make an excuse for the loss. Both teams played well and the Warriors might have won with better health and coaching. They've since moved on. The point was to point out that last season's loss wasn't dictated by playoff style or officiating as someone claimed nearly as much as absent personnel.

I sort of hate how defensive Warriors fans have been since we've exploded out of the gates with just a dominant regular season under out belt.

For all we know we get knocked off 1st round and are a certified paper tigers. We haven't proven much so far other than we're an elite regular season team. Respect is earned, not given. Once we have at least 1 great title run, then we'll be able to argue whether or not our team is being "disrespected" when we're told we're a pretender 1st round exit team.

I think we're going to have an outstanding post-season. We should reserve the end-all judgments until then.

LOL, no. Just because Mark Jackass tried to play the victim does not mean Golden State had anything to do with it.

Your superstar was still healthy in last year's series, ours wasn't the year before.

A Warriors fan talking about unlikeable teams being crammed down people's throats is rich.

At least the Warriors are polarizing which means they are doing something right.

Considering that the Warriors have been an afterthought for most of the last 40 years it's only fair when they are 57-13 and winning with historic margins that they should get some love.

Wut? The team was ready to boycott that game before it was even played in showing solidarity with the Clippers players and LAC said no thanks, we're good.

Your superstar was still healthy in last year's series, ours wasn't the year before.

Are Chris Paul and Jordan chopped liver? I consider Paul a better player that year before Griffin made the leap. Like I said, there's no shame in losing to Memphis, injured or otherwise. Who's making excuses now?

GSW knows what it's like to play with Curry hobbled. They did that against Denver and San Antonio before. Bogut's wheels were coming off too. But they also know when these guys can play, even at 60-70% they're much more impactful than not being available at all. And again, to flip the tables, I would rather face Paul, Griffin, and no DJ than all of them with Griffin on a bum knee but healthy enough to play.

I was trying simply to say hey, good series but GSW could play better-- anyone who analyzed that series would have said Bogut was vital to that team getting anywhere. You seem oddly reluctant to concede that reality. Not sure if beating a center-less Warriors with HCA should really be something to hold onto and treasure that much.

A Warriors fan talking about unlikeable teams being crammed down people's throats is rich.

Um. Reality check. People love the Warriors, except for Clippers and Rockets fans. Even the refs are getting sick of Paul from what I understand. I thought that'd never happen.

Many people say they should be afriad of OKC? I'd be surprised if that series went 6 games. G-State is the team to beat in the league.

It depends on OKC's health, with their current roster, GS would sweep them or beat them in 5 at most but with Durant and Ibaka healthy, that's easily a 6 or 7 game series, and that's not a disrespect to GS at all as OKC healthy is a legit NBA title contender.

I'm on same boat with ya here, more or less. I actually have very little respect, I still see our team as little ducklings going in vs Grizz, Spurs, or even the pretenders of LA. I'm still having nightmares of DJ and Blake dunking all over Lee (luckily wont be any part of this postseason)

Warriors shouldn't be respected until we prove ourselves, and this is the year to prove it.

The thread is made by some clueless Lakers fan, who suddenly thought GSW is the greatest team in history and deserve respect out of nowhere. Then harden's buttlickers and clipturds just blowing this up out of nothing.

GS is right where they're at in term of respect, some like them, some still doubt, and the media only gives us the fair attention as best record holder, I dont see any disrespect or over-respect anywhere.

You get respect when you win, simple as that.

I think the vast majority of fans an analysts acknowledge how good of a team GS is, but what is getting GS fans peeved is the amount of both fans and analysts claiming GS are a regular season team, and will fail in the playoffs due to being reliant on the 3 ball.

Anyone who claims that only shows their own ignorance. GS is the most efficient defensive team in the league, and last I looked easily in the top 10 for points scored in the paint. There is a difference between being able to shoot the 3 and being reliant on it.

Fact is East is stacked like never before. I'm okay with people saying Warriors won't make it out of the East, or that they'll get knocked out in the first round. But don't say that it's because they are jump shooters who can't win in the playoffs. Because that's simply wrong. It will be because they came up against a quality opponent who executed all series long.

And yeah, I think in the end, THAT IS disrespect. Calling GS a regular season team, it's belittling what they are achieving right now, in all facets of the game. But as I said, you don't get respect, you earn it. No one, NO ONE respected the Heat, until they won it all.

True that. One of the top 5 single-season teams of all time if they hoist that Larry O'Brien this summer.

You nailed it. It's not a lock that GSW makes it out of the West or even 2nd round depending on tough Western conference matchups.

But it's not because "regular season team and 3-ball and stuff".

And Warriors making it out of the East would be a pretty amazing achievement. Haha.

Agreed

Saying GS are purely a jump shooting team is certainly not what this team is. the D is the best in the league and teams who depend on the three don't play D.

GS are so good on the break and thats due to the turnovers we force on a nightly basics.

Their coming out of the West easily. I think only SAS and Memphis has even a chance of slowing them down but I don't think either team can beat them.

Clipper fans need to quit whining about Blake's injury in the Grizzlies series. It was already Game 5 or 6 by the time he hurt his ankle and the ass whipping had already commenced.

I think Memphis has a great shot to take out the Warriors, provided they both make it to the conference final. GSW is the team that will have to "crack the code", so to speak.

One reason GSW isn't seen as a scary playoff team is the lack of hyper athletic guards or wings attacking the rim relentlessly and trying to win the series at the free throw line... while the refs oblige. It's hard to beat OKC when they shoot 20 FT a quarter whenever they go into a shooting slump. Golden State actually tries to beat you from the field and isn't overly reliant on drawing FT's. Just one less thing to worry about.

Partly true.. but gSW isn't seen so much in the East..and nobody expected they'd do this. I think a lot of fans really are juststarting to figure they are for real. At this point.. I have to think theyy no longer are disrespected. Misunderstood? perhaps. Some think it's all bout Curry being a star. He was a star before. That's not what makes GSW better NOW.

It also doesn't hurt that many see them as the most aesthetically pleasing team to watch. And they don't have any players who are generally hated.

How is GSW disrespected rofl? They've been the favorites to win the West for almost the entire year. If anything they were disrespected before the season started when people thought they were prey to anyone in the 2nd round. The only team that is making people think GSW wont come out the West is the defending champions.

Pretty much this..

A great even historically great Regular Season is cool and all.
But no one will remember that as long as there is no equal Postseason Brilliance.

I'm a Mavs fan and let me tell all GSW fans... even 67-15 can go to **** so damn fast you wont know what hit you. Not that i wish that kind of crash to any Team and its fans.

People tend to put way too much stock into the Regular Season... but it always was that way and always will be... Legends be it Players or Teams are born almost exlusivly in the Playoffs.

Just ask around.. what Season would you rather have?

70-12 ALL time Great RS Team that gets upset in the second round or Conference Finals.
52-30 A 3-5 Seed fights its way to the Finals and wins it all.

Almost anybody will choose Team 2. All the RS wins in the world only mean something if you win a Ring.

Even a Team that goes 73-9 will be remembered as failure and disapointing if they dont win it all that year.
