Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that if LAC goes 3-0 and SAS goes 3-0, the Clippers will secure the 2nd seed ahead of the Spurs. The season series against them is 2-2, so the tiebreaker goes to the better Conference percentage, which the Clippers will have.

If all 4 of Houston, Memphis, San Antonio, and the Clippers are tied at 56-26, the Clippers will be ahead of all of them and secure 2nd place. Each season series will be tied at 2-2, and the Clippers will have a better conference record than all of them (37-15).

I don't really care where the other teams end up, I just want the Clippers to get 2nd and have home court through 2 rounds of the playoffs, and possibly throughout the Western Conference if the Warriors get knocked out. Dallas will be an easy first round opponent.

They will be the division winner. The division winner tie breaker wins over the conference record tie breaker :(

I don't want to say Dallas will be easy, they'll still be tough, but they are a better matchup than any other team but Portland for the Clippers, and facing Dallas also means being 2nd. In order for the Clippers to be second though, those other teams all have to be at 55 wins or less.

I never EVER want to act like a series with Dirk and Carlisle will be easy.

but it honestly is our best option if we can get one of those best scenarios OG is talking about.

Damn, you're right. I had forgotten about the division tiebreaker rule. That's some bs. So if all 4 teams end up with the same record, will the Clippers get 3rd?

Guess we just have to bank of San Antonio beating Houston and then losing to some **** team, Houston losing to some **** team, and Memphis losing to Golden State, while we go 3-0.

Well after tonight Rockets, Grizz, Clipps, Spurs...in that order...are all within 1/2 game of each other. Could come down to the final day and still not know who's seeded where.

Crazy

If we all managed to finish tied, possible but unlikely, Spurs are 2, we are 3, Grizz 5 and Rockets 6

According to the ESPN thingy, as of today the most likely thing is still that we face the Spurs...

I think I understand that, the logic is that something like this happens:
Houston 3-1 or 4-0 (56-57 wins) 2nd
Clippers 3-0 (56-26) 3rd
Memphis 2-2 (55-27) 5th
San Antonio 2-1 (55-27) 6th

The assumption is that Houston doesn't lose both to SA (they have 38.6% chance of facing Dallas), which is where SA's loss comes from, Clippers win out, and Grizzlies lose to both GS and LAC and get 5th, hence their 38.3% chance to face Portland.

Big game tonight between SA and Hou. Hopefully SA takes them out, and we beat Memphis tomorrow. That's our best chance at grabbing that 2 seed, and avoiding SA rd 1 at the same time.
I'll put up tomorrow GT sometime tonight.

And 10 on the last part Quake, lol

Utah now needs to beat Memphis too :)

Actually, Utah shouldn't beat Memphis. If SA wins out and Memphis lags behind, SA gets 2nd. Clippers can't get 2nd if they tie and I don't trust any of those other teams (Phoenix and @New Orleans) to beat SA. Memphis still have Clippers tomorrow and GS coming up.

If we look at the matchups from before:

Grizzlies 3-1 (56-26) 2nd
Clippers 3-0 (56-26) 3rd
San Antonio 3-0 (56-26) 5th
Houston 3-1 (56-26) 6th

That is actually a pretty good set-up also. We actually might be better off with Memphis beating Utah AND beating GS and only losing to LAC tomorrow. With the loss, Houston can't eclipse SA if they tie, so a poor Memphis end to the season gives the Clippers SA in the 2nd round with them having HCA.

San Antonio 3-0 (56-26) 2nd
Clippers 3-0 (56-26) 3rd
Houston 3-1 (56-26) 5th
Memphis 2-2 (55-27) 6th

Call me crazy.

But given Draymond's string of unprovoked comments, I expect Golden State to lay down against Memphis that night.

Still, Memphis needs 3-1 to be above SA if SA doesn't lose, so if they lose tonight, and Clippers beat them, that puts them 2-2, 55 wins. We would then be relying on Phoenix or New Orleans beating SA to get 2nd. If not, Clippers have that scenario I posted:

San Antonio 3-0 (56-26) 2nd
Clippers 3-0 (56-26) 3rd
Houston 3-1 (56-26) 5th or Memphis 2-2 (55-27) 5th
Memphis 2-2 (55-27) 6th or Houston 2-2 (55-27) 6th

The scenario with all of them at 55 wins is going to be hard to happen. If the Clippers win round one, I'd rather face Memphis or Dallas in round 2 than SA or Dallas.

So damn confused. All this is too much. I'm just going to wait.

How can we get 2nd or 3rd with the Spurs being at #5?
