I think we lock him up on a similar deal as Kemba's only a little bit less.

If his agent is smart, which Leon Rose is, he won't accept an extention this summer. That would be dumb on Michaels part. He will probably go until hes RFA and force us to match a really, really good offer.

Given his injury history, I doubt it. A little bit of risk there

I'd be thrilled if we gave him 11/44 over the summer. I just don't see it happening.

He has to be careful. If next season is another 60 game season he won't get 11 per. It is gamble they can make or they could take 11 and hope to keep improving offense and cash in after that deal.

I don't see any player, unless its an eh kind of player taking an extension this summer with the cap going up big time and almost every team in the league having an insane amount of cap space in 2016.

Players who are going to make the max won't. The rest definitely might. Defense doesn't pay like offense does. While I wouldn't hesitate to pay MKG a $12M contract like the one Kemba is receiving starting next year, MKG probably isn't getting that kind of money unless he does refuse an extension and then subsequently blows up Jimmy Butler style on the offensive end.

I dunno. Its a rather tricky situation. He will probably bet on himself instead of signing an extension this summer, and a guy like MKG betting on himself, unlike Lance who bet on himself refusing a long term contract from Bird is probably a good thing for MKG for him financially.

No clue on if we get an MKG extension. I can see LP's points and Biz's, really don't even have a guess as to what he'll do.

Yeah, it's all up to him and his agent. I'm sure Cho will make a fair offer based on his current value around the league right now, just depends on how confident his camp feels. A guy with that style of play (gets injured a lot, basically) might be wise to take the money and run since this is his first major payout, but he has also improved quite a bit this year and might believe he can make another mini-leap this summer. If he signs now and ends up a 15ppg player with his All-NBA caliber defense at age 22 he'll be underpaid, if he refuses our offer and tears an ACL he's probably not sniffing $10m annually even with the cap going up next summer.

Big decision for him. I just hope we lock him in on a fair deal one way or another. He's a lot of fun to root for and he seems to be one of the few guys on the roster that is indisputably valuable.

^ Even without an ACL tear, if he has another season just like this one playing good defense and averaging 11/7.5, but only playing 55 games due to nagging injuries, any team would be insane to give him 10 mil per year.

Wait his agent is Leon Rose? The extension talks should die then. 4/48 million is fair imo. He came a long way this year but is still 3-4 years away from being a two way player. Plus he's been injured a lot. The ideal situation for us is for him to be like Curry. We take a chance on him to develop a solid offensive game and stay healthy and over pay him and in return he continues to develop and we end up with a steal of a contract.
