I don't know, I definitely am holding out hope that Curry comes to Charlotte but who knows.
There's potential for major change in the NBA over the next few years. Lots of franchises have tons of cap space available, not even taking into account the cap going up. The following teams have less than $45M in guaranteed contracts next season - PHI, SAS, NYK, ORL, POR, BOS, ATL, PHO, and DAL. As things stand now, only ten teams have more than $45M in guaranteed contracts extending into the 2016-17 season.
There are so many teams with cap space in the next couple seasons that cap space itself is not going to be enough to attract FAs. I think having a base of young, energetic role players that are at worst borderline elite defenders is going to be a positive for us when we are trying to land top tier FAs.
You are right on the money here, I agree completely. That said Curry is THE free agent for us, no one else comes close. Durant, WB, Horford, Griffin, etc. aren't going to seriously consider us Curry will.
If Love was looking at situations objectively he'd take a hard look at us because he won't find a better fit for his skillset/limitations than playing between MKG/Biz. But with the Lakers having an empty cap I don't think there's much of a possibility he goes anywhere other than there if he decides to leave Cleveland. So in summary it's all about Curry.
