If I am Michael Jordan, I give coach Steve Clifford and general manager Rich Cho one more chance to get it right. But both men should be in serious jeopardy if the Hornets slide in the wrong direction again.

I love this quote. It's time the media starts getting tough with this franchise. Stop letting them be awful at their jobs. 4 people deserve a lot of criticism right now - Rich Cho, Steve Clifford, Kemba Walker and Al Jefferson. Those are the 4 of the 6 most important people in this franchise (from a basketball standpoint), Michael Jordan and MKG being the other 2. 4 of the 6 failed miserably at their jobs this year (5 if you think MJ is involved in many of the basketball decisions). Stop making excuses for these guys.

:o :o   The one common thread I see in these comments is that everybody agrees MAJOR changes need to be made.
Since I don't ever read the newspapers, none of my comments or the starting of this topic were based on any media. The one thing I regret and wish I had put in the comment line is /WHAT NEXT?

I am sure that people within the Hornets Organization are assigned to read our Real GM comments daily. Also,if Cho is as good as he is suppose to be,software programs are in place that upgrade ALL NBA/D/INTERNATIONAL league player stats, charts are in place as to players of interest and also Hornets player scenarios of who stays/goes on current players exists. Hornet Scouts should be meeting NOW on a regular basis with Cho and Clifford about the upcoming draft. Team Needs by each position (5 deep) should be in place by May1st for the June draft. All current Hornet Contracts should be reviewed and trade scenarios established long before the ping pong balls drop.Cap trades should be visited and Free Agents targeted. Agents felt out on contractual PO,UFA,RFA possiblitites.

RFA---Biz-----Do we match or let him walk? Whats the Max Salary?
UFA...MO.....What's its cost us to keep him as Backup?....Do we trade Roberts?....Do we resign Maxciel?
PO....Hendo....If exercised,do we let him walk?
2016 MKG.....RFA ..Do we extend now or wait?
Tradeable Assets to get better? Kemba, Al, Lance, Marvin,Cody,Vonleah,PJ, JT,Daniels?

First grade is relative to the league / Second grade is relative to my expectations of each person coming into the season.

Cho: D/D
Clifford: D/F

Kemba: C/D (except December, A)
Jefferson: C/F
Henderson: C/C
MKG: B/A
Zeller: C/C
Marvin: D/D
Lance: F/F
Hairston: F/F
Roberts: F/D
Mo: C/B
Biyombo: C/B
Taylor: F/F
Max: F/C
Vonleh: F/F
Neal: F/F
Daniels: ?

regarding the 1st grade, MKG was really our only player that I would have considered better than average for his position compared to his peers.

regarding the 2nd grade, my expectations would be for a player to preform equal to my expectations of them, which would always start at a C for everyone. In that sense, only MKG, Biz, Max and Mo were better this year than I expected. Everyone else was either as I expected or worse.

My rendition using Fat's format:

Cho: D/D
Clifford: D/F

Kemba: C-/D- (except December, B)
Jefferson: C-/D
Henderson: C+/B-
MKG: B/A-
Zeller: C/C+
Marvin: D/F
Lance: F/F
Hairston: F/F
Roberts: F/D-
Mo: C/C+
Biyombo: D/C+
Taylor: F/F
Max: D/D+
Vonleh: Incomplete
Neal: D/F
Daniels: Incomplete

Not that far off, but several points; Noah has to be incomplete, as Clifford wouldn't develop or play him enough to warrant a grade; Kemba was a huge letdown, regressing after his big extension, and putting a cloud over our PG position into the future; MKG surprised me with his progress and was clearly the best part of this season. Lance was the greatest disappointment by far. Coach and Cho just tick me off. We are truly a treadmill team until we develop Noah, get Hyphen and Cody fully established, win a legitimate star via the draft and have Biz be consistent s a starter.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I think we are all worn down. It's been a brutal season and we all have been letting our frustrations spill over to the board. But you have to know that even if you disagree with people, we still want you to voice your real opinion on matters. Its the mocking and baiting that really gets under the skin of the other posters and makes the board less enjoyable. Hopefully, now that the realization about this team has set in, everyone will relax a little and we can get back to having fun basketball discussions.

Right. I just don't have no opinion on Kemba anymore. People take it the wrong way and think I'm a homer Kemba guy all the way to the point I become a Uconn fan whenever I voice my real opinion so I rather see the team move on to a legit pass first PG like everyone want so I don't have to be misunderstood anymore.

Cho: C
IMHO, he probably has one more year to make this team work. While his trades have usually been good (and underrated) they haven’t been franchise changers. His draft picks haven’t been busts, but he hasn’t discovered any hidden gems either. The biggest problems are the team’s lack of cohesion … it’s still a collection of parts … and his FA signings.

Clifford: D
He’s an average to below average NBA coach who is on the wrong team. Stick him on the Suns or somewhere that has good shooting and he would probably look better. Honestly I’ll never like him because of his stubbornness and controlling nature. I just don’t like guys like that. His substitutions, the fact that the team can’t score off timeouts, and his end of game “plays” are mind boggling to me … but some key players seem to love him. That counts for something. Managing people is big for a head coach.

Kemba: C
I want to like Kemba, but between the injures and bad months it’s really hard to. He has great heart but lack of court vision. When his scoring mentality takes over his game it’s detrimental to the team even if he does make a heroic shot or two.

Hendo: C+
I actually feel better about Hendo this year than last. I just wish that he would play smarter on offense. All of those fadeaways…. Ugh. His defense is underrated.

MKG: B-
I love MKG and he took huge strides this year on offense. IMHO he’s got to get stronger in order to avoid the injures. I hope he works on strength as he continues to refine his shot. Really the grade is due to so many games missed along with some of the silly things he did on some of those drives.

Zeller: C
I thought that he played better this year, especially on defense, but I keep waiting on him to make those 3s in game like he does in warmups.

Al: D+
Honestly I think that he wasn’t 100% healthy to start training camp. That led to him not being in NBA shape when the season started. Which lead to a horrific start for the team and then more injury.

Mo: A-
He was great in the role he played. Brought a lot to the team in the time he was here.

B. Robinson: C-
He really did have some OK games, but he wasn’t the backup that the team needed.

Lance: F
Don’t see how you can really spin it any other way. Terrible year for him.

Marvin: C
He’s overpaid, but that’s not his fault. He did OK this year. He was actually not bad in some matchups and his range really did help spacing in the games where he was hitting 3s. He’s misused here IMHO.

Biz: B-
I love Biz and hope he’s back. However this year was really a mixed bag for him. He is what he is.

Maxciel: C
He game the team a LOT more than I expected. Not his fault that he is too short and too old to be super effective on a regular basis.

Taylor: D
I hate saying this, but I hope he’s gone after this year. Would much rather have had CDR than JT this year.

PJ: C-
We didn’t get to see enough of him for him to earn better. His knuckleheadedness shows up on and off the court. However other teams respect his shot for a reason and he’s unafraid to shoot it.

Vonleah: Inc
He showed both flashes and problems in his limited minutes.

Team needs major changes this off season.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody
