last games of the season tend to produce random stat-lines since bench units usually play heavy minutes in them.

hard to tell whether Toronto will rest its starters since they are in a fight for the 3-seed, which would mean facing Cleveland though.. I'm rooting for the Bulls so the Cavs would have to face them in the second round, instead of the depressing winner of TOR-MIL. too bad that the Pacers snatching the 7-seed seems like a pipe dream. at least them plus the Bulls would make the Cavs sweat it out a bit.

but, either way, you have to ask yourself these questions. will you regret in five years time that you missed out on one of the following:

1) Bruno Caboclo and Lucas Noguiera playing their first big NBA minutes;
2) Bruno Caboclo having one play where you totally see how the dude could be Giannis in a couple of years;
3) Greg Stiemsma randomly going for a double double;
4) Tyler Hansbrough annoying everybody within five minutes of playing time with his bulging eyes, heavy falling and incredibly unathletic rebounds while maiming two opponents and one team-mate (possibly grabbing six of those);
5) James Johnson driving to the rim like a madman and making yourself ask why isn't he an All-Star;
6) Troy Daniels hitting 6 threes and scoring over 20 points (possibly for a career high);
7) Noah Vonleh recording his first 20/10 game;
8) Jeffery Taylor recording a new NBA record for unnecessary jab-steps in one game;
9) Jeffery Taylor recording a new NBA record for indecisive decisions per 36 minutes;
10) Jason Maxiell playing 30 minutes in the last game of his career (a la Elvin Hayes).

All of these are in play.

Apparently Cliff said something about Noah potentially getting 30+ minutes in this one.

that's great. scenarios 7) and 10) will surely benefit from this (we need Maxiell out there to mentor Vonleh).

I admire your effort. I may very well end up going to this game (it's 4 subway stops away after all), but I won't miss this opportunity to wax sardonic about your optimism with this game.

1) bruno is seriously lost right now. for all I know I've bought weed from Noguiera, as much as I know about him
2) yeahhh, prolly not
3) every double double from Stiemsma will be random, until the end of time
4) been there done that. I've seen 5+ Raps games the past few years
5) been there. even made a note about it in the game thread of the last Hornets game in Toronto. he would be a very frustrating player if I had anything invested in him succeeding
6) huzzah, lemme get out my checkbook
7) not out of the realm of possibility, although from the looks of it it'd take him 35FGA to get 20
8) I have seen JR Smith play live
9) I have seen Ben Gordon play live
10) I might like to wave goodbye to Maxiell, by all accounts a good dude and outperformed his theoretical role this season by quite a bit--still, so many of his minutes have felt like lost opportunities for development from other players who could have used it

if Slam were coming into town instead of making a pilgrimage back to his homeland this week it would be a lot more tempting. I might just walk up and grab a $20 scalper ticket like other times.

We're locked into 9th worst now, might as well go for the win and keeping Toronto from 50 wins (if they beat Boston). Excited to see Vonleh get 30 minutes as well.

Was positive that this game would get bumped for another game. Hadn't seen promos for this game on ESPN, but I finally saw one on MIke & Mike this morning.

If we do end up actually playing on national TV, it sure would be nice to have some of our injured guys back. If they are still injured, of course keep them out; but if we are just sitting them because there is nothing to play for, I'd hope they would play so that we don't make a fool of ourselves on national TV. We were bound to get hate anyway -- our one (if that) national TV game each year is apparently too much for some of the General Board clowns -- but if we were to trot out a lineup of Jason Maxiell, Brian Roberts, etc.? All the while there are much more consequential games being played? Oh lord, we'd never hear the end of it.

in all fairness, ESPN should not be showing this game tonight. There are a lot of really important, exciting games happening tonight that could be televised in the place of this meaningless, awful game. ESPN should have played one of our games early in the season, no doubt. I am almost embarrassed that they are showing this game tonight. Basketball fans in general should be appalled this game is on national TV. ESPN/TNT/ABC need to do a better job of switching out games, when needed.

I'm embarrassed to be on national tv.

So, ESPN is all black and SportSouth is showing the Braves.

God likes to toy with me.
