"Yeah. I've been here," Monroe said. "There are different things that have happened through out my time here. A lot has changed through my time here but I can see myself coming back here."

Monroe becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. The Pistons say they will try to re-sign him, which means they must offer him a maximum contract. The Pistons can offer more financially. They can give him an extra fifth year and annual 7.5 annual raises as opposed to 4.5 percent that the Knicks or any other team can offer.

The key question is does he want to return to a team that failed go give him a max deal two years ago when it had an opportunity and has yet to make the playoffs. Monroe admits playing in a playoff series burns inside of him and has talked to other players about the experience.

"I never thought of anything else," he said. "I am here. That is all I think about. I don't envision myself being anywhere else. I don't look past what is going on now."
