Off to my first Bulls game Saturday

Post#1 » by BullsInBuffalo » Thu Apr 16, 2015 6:03 pm

My girlfriend surprised me with 2 tix for my birthday.

Need some suggestions on where to park/what restaurants to go to after the game.

Also, we are staying in club quarters central loop hotel on 111 west adams street. Rated 8.5 out of 10. Good hotel/area?

Good hotel. New, clean, quiet. Nothing fancy but thoroughly professional. More of a business area than a tourist area, but a short walk or cab ride to the action north of the River.

This is all correct. Fine, safe area but definitely a business area and won't be much going on in a half mile radius.

Of course, plenty of great restaurants of all kinds a .75-1 miles north (don't eat within a half mile of your hotel, really no good restaurants in the loop), really just depends what kind of food you're looking for.

The hotel will charge around $30 parking I assume and valet parking would be more expensive. However, pretty sure self park doesn't include in&out as hotels in the city center usually do. Parking is one of the issues in Chicago. No good restaurants in the loop.

Chicago Style Pizza?
There's a Lou Malnati's nearby on Wells and another one a mile north on state (which is larger and would have more interesting people watching nearby). Pequod's is another recommended on but that's 3 miles north.

Steak?
There are plenty of good ones and I can talk all day about steak (I've been to every one in Chicago) but being realistic about which ones might have reservations still available on a Saturday night, I recommend Bennys Chop House.

Italian?
Quartino is not bad for small plate italian and not too expensive wine. There are other places that might be as good or better, but again, I'm being cognizant of what might still have reservations available for a friday/saturday night.

Honestly there are plenty of options in every genre available a mile north of you, so without a category it's difficult to narrow down.

Here's my tip from my first visit last week: If you like to get your drink on, do so before the game somewhere else. Booze at the game is PRICEY.

Yeh, learned that the hard way. I've never paid 11$ for a beer before.

My fiancee and I actually stayed there a month ago. I was worried because a lot of the reviews talked about having small rooms so I requested the biggest room they had with a kitchenette and they gave it to us (we went through hotwire so I emailed them). I was very happy especially with the price we paid. They have free water bottles on every floor, free printing, and other free stuff downstairs. The people were really nice as well. There is a Starbucks pretty much attached to it and the restaurant connected was pretty good. There is also a 7-eleven down the street. We went to the Italian Village which was about a 3-4 minute walk. It was a good area and we had no problems while we were there.

We took advantage of The L a lot and used Uber to get to the game. If you have any questions feel free to send me a message!

Just gonna piggy back here... There's a good Italian place near the UC named Viaggio's. They have the best meatball I have ever started. The Sunday Pork Gravy dish is also very good. I would recommend it for great (and reasonably priced) Italian.

Man have fun. My first game was Rose's rookie year 9th row beat the defending champ Celtics St Pattys day. One of my best memories.

Yeah I'm pumped.

She asked me, "if you drive the 7 hours ill buy you Bulls playoff tix for Saturday as an early birthday gift"

She didn't have to ask me twice.
