To go or not to go?

Post#1 » by McFilthy » Fri Apr 17, 2015 5:50 pm

I was thinking of going to a Wizards-Toronto playoff game in DC. I am back in the area and I have never been to a Bullets/Wizards playoff game in DC (I went to some in Cleveland - Wizards vs. Cavs when I lived there.) So I love the team and really like a lot of the Wizards players, but I don't approve of the leadership. I not go to a game as a small protest to Grunfeld-Wittman Obviously I am one person and it is one game, whereas a large number of season ticket holders not renewing would be more noticeable. However, I remember when there were still tickets available for some Wizards home playoff games last year it got some national attention. Do you all think it matters? Thoughts?

I don't think it matters. The Wizards probably will not sell out because they have been a disappointment in the second half of the season, but the stadium will be filled enough simply because its the playoffs. Ted is not going to make any decisions on management simply because the game did not sell out as that did not prompt him to do anything last year.

I am a season ticket holder and I plan on selling at least the first two games. If they make it to game 6, I will decide then on whether I want to keep it. However, I really don't have any interest in paying money to watch this team play right now. They need to show me that they will be a different team in the playoffs before I get invested (both financially and emotionally) in them again.

You should definitely go. Playoff games are so much better than regular season games.

Raps fans travel. The makeup of the crowd will be ugly -- which, while painful in the short term, will hopefully lead to changes.

The atmosphere at Games 3 and 4 vs. Chicago last year weren't bad, although I remember it being a LOT rowdier during the Gilbert years. I think the stench of this town's losing has just gotten too much for people.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

I don't expect the atmosphere to be as good as last year. Fans were fairly amped last year because it was the first time in a while the Wizards made it to the playoffs. There were higher expectations this year and the second half of the season pretty much killed those expectations in a lot of people, including me. I think a lot of people will be hesitant to get emotionally invested in this team and that will hurt the atmosphere. With that said, the atmosphere at any playoff game is always better than the regular season.

Almost nothing left but $hitty 400 level seats at the ends.
Hopefully I'll at least break even on my sec 216 seats.
