I'm just saying, in context it was not backhanded at all. He needs a ton of work to be able to stay on the court, which is not new information, but he can rebound very well and that's a skill that can earn him PT next year.

I may go back and watch Vonleh a little more closely in the games we played after we were eliminated (I essentially couldn't bear to watch us anymore once we were almost certain to be mathematically eliminated- we were really painful to watch) but based on the results and the highlights I've watched so far, Vonleh looks like the real deal and not quite as raw as Clifford made him out to be. He and Daniels might currently be two of our top 3 outside shooters and both were sitting on the bench while we **** around and tried to play Maxiell/Marvin/Hendo/Mo/Kemba, which was just wrong on so many levels. Vonleh should've been playing the whole year.

Re-watching some tape of this guy and I have to say..

Whoever (was it you, jdm3?) I was arguing with was right. This guy might as well have handles as good enough as Chris Webber used to have.

I think you guys know that I'm a level-headed fan. Haven't really been that high on any of our draft picks. But, man.. when you put it all together, I think this guy can be really, really good.

I was the one. I thought the difference between him and Webber handle wise was his change of direction. His potential is great I just hope he has the work ethic MKG has because he could have a tremendous ceiling.

All the tools are there, the jumper, handles, size, length, body... I think for Vonleh it will come down to what's between his ears. Does he understand the game well? does he read the game? does he have great instincts? What kind mentality does he have, leader, follower, alpha dog, role player? Does he have the drive, desire, focus to be great. I always believe this is the part of the game that is so overlooked when it comes to determining a player's career path. It could be the difference between Alexis Ajinca or Rudy Gobert.

I, perhaps, wouldn't have noticed it as much if it wasn't for you.

If I had moved up in the draft for someone he was my guy. I knew the top guys were going to go but he was the first player I thought could be traded for. I watched a lot of what I could find of him and fell in love with his potential. He reclassified to go to Indiana so he was younger than most and at one point was a highly thought of SF in his previous class. He had handles and range then added size. I think I just watched more of him than most on here because he was supposed to be out of our range in the draft.

I didn't know that, interesting. Think he was happy with his IU experience? Seemed like Crean and Vonleh weren't best buds, but that was just what I picked up from afar. Didn't watch them much after Cody and Oladipo left.

I do not know that it was just to go to IU as much as to be in that class. He decided between a few schools and chose IU. But he should have been a Freshman this season until late in the year. He was top 4 in that class and when he moved was put at 7th in his new class. He was one of the younger guys at the top of the class just behind Parker.

Crean prolly tried to bring Vonleh along slowly so that he would stick around for a few years to help the program aka his coaching prestige but Vonleh prolly felt he was just as good as Wiggins/Parker/Randle which was the same animosity Lavine had with Alford at UCLA.

and its what made MJ great.

Can you imagine MJ's mentality in Lebron's body? Cav's would have had a dynasty.

That is why I think he will be a success. He has talked a good game up to this point and when he reclassified his coach talked about how far he came in terms of working and studying film. This summer should put it into context some for us.

2013 was when he was supposed to originally graduate highschool anyway I believe.

It was. He changed it and went back. Many of the guys who reclassify were supposed to be in the class they change into.

I remember Andre Dawkins graduating highschool a year early to go to duke. Big mistake that was. Off topic.

Watching those videos I thought to myself, "That kid is going to have knee issues later on."

Every time he shoots a 3 the way he has his feet about shoulder width apart and knees together ... that's just asking for trouble.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody
