Am I the only one to who Brook with the afro looks just so long and lanky, but after he cut it off, he looks just like a beast, Hulk-like and huge?
Amazing what a difference hair makes :D

i hope we dont do something dumb like force feed brook because of game 1 knee jerk reaction. we need to do what we did only clean up the turnovers. doubt we shoot under 20% from three again. get brook more touches when its there for sure, but going to him early offense to get his own will result in like a 34 point lopez night but a blowout nets loss.

i like what we did game 1 outside of ball control and some stretches of shot jacking.

I only like what we did in the 2nd half as a team, that first half was an embarrassment.

I don't think force feeding post ups is the answer either. But I want to see Lopez get the ball while in motion, and also we need to play some two man ball with Joe and Brook. Guys need to start picking their heads up when the dribble instead of having tunnel vision, the Nets forcing bad shots like we saw in Game 1 is just as bad as force feeding Lopez.

The thing that scares me is Brook is reading and hearing all the media pundits about how he needs more touches. As long as he is effective in the paint I am cool with it. I can't watch 17ft jumpers all game long because he feels like EVERYONE wants him to shoot when he touches the ball. That could make for a very long night.

If Brook takes 20 attempts at the rim tomorrow I don't give a damn. No one on the Hawks can stop him. But he's got to get the ball going towards the rim, or face up his defender and make an aggressive move. Back to the basket post ups for him are a disaster.

Game 2: NETS @ HAWKS - Wednesday, 4/22/15 7:00pm NBA TV & My9

I feel there's a lot to build on from game 1. Obviously the Hawks are good team and are going to make adjustments to fix the holes present in their defense and offense.

I expect them to be more competitive on the glass and be looking to shut down Brook even more.

We need to stay aggressive with finding Brook in good spots and in motion. If Brook gets the ball in motion in the paint, you can count it. Those are the shots I want him to take. That and I had no problem that he had some put backs, means he's in the right place.

We need to handle the ball better as well, turnovers really did us in.

I think if we make the right adjustments we can go into this second game strong.

Game 1 showed us that we aren't as completely outmatched as we thought and there's room for us to improve and make this a long series.

It would be HUGE if we could steal this game 2. It puts pressure on them. This is a series everyone expects us to lose, so the more pressure we force onto them the better position we are in.

We need to use our size, Hollins is wrong, we have 1 advantage and it's our size. We had a CLEAR advantage in the paint, we out-rebounded and out-scored them in the paint.

We need focus in on what we do well, and also not get discouraged because our threes weren't falling. They'll start falling soon, we won't shoot that badly every game

As Prok mentioned before IIRC... a "bully" lineup... I would entertain for come sequences of Brook plus Plumlee/CJ/Jordan... something for god sakes.... try something to beat them with...

You can add SAS into the list of folks exposing Deron.

Yeah Deron is actually an All Star level talent and athlete - he just doesn't want to put up those numbers. If only he wanted it, he'd start scoring in traffic, getting actual lift on his layups and getting into the paint.

Also I hope we can see Mirza back soon. His 10 or so minutes off the bench could prove very useful. Even if he only focuses on hitting open 3's, 10 minutes of hard floor stretching and a couple makes could be huge.

Our backups for PF are just putrid right now.

Either we start rolling out more Plumlee at PF and try to bully them or get Mirza back. I feel more comfortable with Mirza hitting shots than Clark to be honest, because Mirza at least knows about shot selection

yup.... in fact id rather 14 attemps with 10-12 FTA then 20 attempts and 2 FTA.

going towards the rim is critical.

no ONE on the hawks can stop him.

as a team they can. we have seen the hawks and others double lopes on the catch, and we saw it cause issues. we need to not just get brook more touches but be ready for how atlanta is going to respond to that

it is amazing the things you can do when you try hard and play aggressive instead of being a pansy who plays with no effort.

there is no denying what is being said by williams. he is the biggest dog this team has seen since derrick coleman.

Nets can win this series. Atl looked extremely beatable to me. Nets just need to penetrate the paint, feed lopez and hit fT's. IT isnt rocket science.

It isn't rocket science, but getting Deron Williams to play aggressive on every offensive possession with the intent to attack the defense is a matter of effort and desire.

 that sentence made me just bust out laughing.

To be fair, Derrick Coleman's numbers as a Nets annihilate anything that Williams has put up during his disastrous tenure here. But yes, a dog is a dog, no matter which way the wind blows.
