Re: Toronto FC Discussion Thread II
These past few games have been tough to watch. I think Vanney is a good person but his tactics....ughhhh. We definitely need a new voice, hopefully this Italian dude is legit. About to hit "the google" anyone know anything interesting that wouldn't be found on the first hit of a google search?

Gattuso is a very famous player. Picture him as the Tie Domi of Soccer, except that he was actually good. He was a lumbering guy, hard tackler, very good positional sense, with a big temper. A natural leader as well, and wore the armband for Milan.
He played a big part in Milan's run in the 2000s alongside Pirlo, and was a big part of the Italian team during that time.
As for coaching, he has had a couple of gigs, but hasn't been really successful. Rumours were that he would become the Rangers coach, but no clue what happened to that.
Here is a press conference when he was coaching OFI Crete. This pretty much sums up Gattuso:

BTW, I'm really trying to stay partial here.
I hate Milan, and I think Gattuso is a dirty player. I can't tell you the number of arguments I've had with my friends who are Milan fans about how little skill Gattuso had. Still at least it's not an Inter goon like Materazzi.

Re: Toronto FC Discussion Thread II
Well, local sources are getting some nuggets thrown at them:
http://www.sportsnet.ca/soccer/tfc-toro ... o-gandini/
Also, Amoyal is doubling down on his tweets from yesterday:

A major shakeup within the Toronto FC hierarchy is brewing.
A well-placed source within Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment told Sportsnet that the organization is actively looking to hire a club president that would oversee all soccer operations for TFC. The same source said MLSE has courted and spoken to Italian executive Umberto Gandini about the position. Gandini is a club director at Serie A team AC Milan.

TFC just doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.
Adding a President is not going to help at this point for this season.

I don't think adding a President is about this season tbh. With Leiweke leaving, we have no one at the helm of TFC to keep us relevant. Leiweke had all the connections on the transfer market. The fact that they are going after European names shows that they want someone who has the same connections. Also, I just don't see the board or a new CEO taking Bez seriously.
Naturally, if a President comes in, they will want their own guy running the show on the field.

I would hardly say he had little skill. He was a phenomenal defensive midfielder and people hated playing against him. I guess you could say he was dirty if you just type his name in and see some of his tackles on youtube. But if you actually watched him play you would see some amazing defensive work and he basically hid Pirlos defensive flaws on Italys 2006 team. Dude was an absolute tackling machine and gave a 110% effort every time he played. I don't see how you can say he had little skill if you watch a lot of soccer. So are the only guys with skills total offensive players like Neymar? Gattuso was amazing at what he did. He was hardly a scrub. And if you played him beside an offensive midfielder who didn't necessarily like to do the dirty work he was a huge asset. For hell Bouffon has him in his midfield on his dream team lineup.
I like the fact that he's so passionate. It would be good to light a fire under this franchise. Watching Vanney sit there last game after the game is 3-0 30 mins in made me sick. He was literally just sitting there sulking. Gattuso probably would have stormed the field.
Actually never-mind coaching. As bad is this team is defensively they could probably use Gattuso on the field.

So how long before we let in the first goal today? I'm gonna guess 5 mins in. Also surprised to see Jackson in higher up, I always think of him as an extra defender more than anything else.

I'm a big Juventus fan - and was die-hard in the 2000s. I considered anyone that played for either Milan side - excluding legends like Maldini and Nesta - as overrated. You should hear what I think of Shevchenko!
With that said, I gave Gattuso his props in the post before the quoted one. He may be one of the best positional players that I've seen. Maybe I used the wrong word; what I was trying to say was that he did not have the best technical ability. He was good at many things, but was not much of a threat with the ball at his feet.

PHILADELPHIA UNION vs. TORONTO FC
PPL PARK, Chester, Penn.
May 2, 2015 (Week 9, MLS Game #79)
4 pm ET (TSN4)
Raptors are done, the Jays look terrible, why not get behind TFC this summer?
A win today would have them in a great position in the standings.

I'm stoked for this game. TFC looked good last game, granted it was against an expansion team, but Phili has been worse no? Hoping to see Seba notch another goal and assist tonight.
Also been hearing about Atiba Hutchinson coming to TFC, not sure how the finances would work but there was a few articles on that this week.

Re: Toronto FC Discussion Thread II
Big game today.
Also, the Aquilani rumours are in full force. Won't re-up with Fiorentina and has hired Giovinco's agent. TFC rumours are rampant in Europe, but I'm not sure how we would do it with 3 DPs on the roster already.
Still, really crazy that any good player that is leaving Europe and considering MLS is automatically linked to TFC.
