Now, Melo Trimble announced he's staying at Maryland. And since I'm a Terps fan, I have no doubt about his sincerity.

I think so. His season ended in brutal fashion. After he made a 3, a WV player/thug gave him an intentional shoulder to the head on a moving pick - basically knocking him out. Later in the game, he got accidentally kicked in the head by a teammate. Both times he writhed in pain on the ground for quite a while. They ruled he had a concussion - and he spent the rest of the game on the bench holding a towel over his eyes because he wanted to play so badly but knew he couldn't.
Btw, West Virginia can't lose by enough points to Kentucky. And Huggins can't lose enough in the future. His adult daughters (in their 30's) twittered insults about one of Maryland's players - senior Dez Wells - because of an accusation made several years ago that he was cleared of.

Yeah, I watched the West Virginia game. I thought he was efficient once again until he got knocked out. Was really hoping he'd declare and be around for the Lakers 1st round pick via Houston while he's still relatively unknown and criminally underrated.

Re: Bobby Portis
I think he is tremendously overrated. I've never seen someone that moves so slow without a highly developed post game be so sought after. He projects (IMO) at best as a decent bench player...someone you draft at the end of the first round.

Player B is Bobby Portis his sophomore year at Arkansas.
An aggressive comp, but what say you?

Re: Bobby Portis
Portis' shot release is incredibly slow. Gonna need to fix that to be effective when away from the basket.

Re: Bobby Portis
Regarding the comp with Rasheed, I'd say Rasheed was a better athlete. He was lighter and springier, and probably he had better length. Rasheed was a more natural shooter. Portis is less of a head-case. Portis would be considered the value-pick version at best, but starting at #10 in this draft, he's got as much upside as anyone, imo.

There a lot closer than people think as prospects. Sheed was a better athlete. Sheed was longer(7'4 wingspan) and could defend C and PF's which gave him more versatility as a prospect. I see more Portis as a more talented Horace Grant as a prospect of course.

Rebounding, energy, BBIQ, instincts and shooting skills. He has a lot more that standout about him then Adriean Payne. A lot more. He should be a Paul Millsap/David West level player and maybe better. Maybe not a sure-handed All Star but he should make two to four ASG and have a good career. If I was a team like Detroit, I would consider drafting him, even a team like Sacramento. Too many people focus on the fact that he doesn't have superstar potential and obvious flaws like average athlete ability and skip over that he thinks the game quicker than most. I think he is severally underrated as a prospect.

Re: Bobby Portis
Sheed has a huge length advantage, and that means a whole lot. Sheed could get steals and reach up to block or contest shots that Portis won't have a chance at. Most of Sheed's value in the NBA was on defense because he wasn't an assertive scorer.Catchall wrote:*bump this thread*
