Not that I think he'll do it, but Masai could even get away with a full rebuild now. He absolutely should.

If he was smart he would, and I'd also go to the board and give them a 5 year timeline. Or he can go the retool route and turn us into Denver 2.0 for the forseeable future

Having the All-Star game here next year is not going to help with that at all, I'm afraid. There will be at least some pressure from above to put a good team on the floor again.

For years we've been the punchline of the NBA, scrubs would look forward to signing with us because they knew they'd get playing time. We've been through some real dark times. Think back to when Vince Carter went down for the first time, then went down again and we basically made the playoffs without him. After that we had a season decimated with injuries and Alvin Williams, AD with JYD were literally carrying the team. We had some real ugly games, and what looked like a season for us to get back to that 2000-2001 run was pretty much put on hold. Then came the KO era where we couldn't score but we could definitely play defense, boy did we lose games in the worst way. Not only were some lack of scoring records shattered but also some lamps.

We went through scrubs like mengke batter, Mamadou Ndiaye, rick brunson Ya'll remember rick brunson?!? I mean we even started milt palacio for a little bit, but that guy couldn't make a layup to save his life. Vince Carter ripped our hearts out when he left. We were victims of Kobes 81. The cold cold north lost another star in chris bosh. We got a number 1 pick and chose an unmotivated hack who did have talent but really didn't give a **** about anyone but himself. We got shafted due to that "age rule change" that could have netted us Oden/Durant. We got embarrassed by the Orlando magic one season after having the biggest turnaround in the NBA. Chris Bosh left us after making it seem like he would stay.

We sit here now #2 seed with two allstars, an allstar potential center who is <24y/o, a core that still has yet to reach its peak one of the best benches in the nab. Not to mention no more colangelo. We have great draft picks and a really good cap situation. We won't win every game but we are never out of them ( there will be some blowouts) but this team is the best team we've ever had. PERIOD. As sad as it may be this team is the best and some of you want to tear it down? Some of you complain about Lowry, some just detest derozan. When we were **** there weren't so many fair-weather fans though there were still player factions the consensus on the team was pretty much in unison. Can we please stop these knee jerk reactions? Can we please be rational for once!?? We are finally being considered and being looked at as quasi-contenders to come out of the east do you all understand how big of an achievement that is for this franchise? I mean everything is a process and things will happen one step at a time.

Let me ask you this: When we started the season did any of you think we were gonna be #2 in the east? Let alone hold onto the #1 seed for 2 months?

If the realistic expectations weren't set that high then why are some of you acting so high maintenance? We are Blessed and i mean BLESSED to be in the position we are in. I don't understand how someone who follows the team with true passion is willing to not understand what we have here? How are we not understanding the context? I'm tired of the knee-jerk threads.

Is this from the thread where we were all told to look in the mirror?

The chances are super high that Scott Brooks will come in here, dude is worse than Casey.

My top picks for newbies are Steve Nash and Becky Hammon. Becky will bring that much needed Spurs system in here, damn this team needs to work on basic fundamentals and defense so bad.

Really, you are going to go there? Team allowed 125 points in deciding game.

I think if we learned anything from this series it's that we don't do anything particularly well. Once scouted both our offense and defense get shut down. The defense was never good this season, the offense was good but lacked any sort of versatility that would be needed when certain options get shut down and there's no superstar that can go to work.

You are actually agreeing with Casey as he has being saying this all year. This team doesn't have the top tier offensive talent to outscore the opponents. Wizards had 64 points in 1st half. Bad D just puts pressure on your offense. This team is also mentally fragile. If team plays average D, they can get away with it. But playing historically bad D was always going to be recipe for disaster, no matter what type of offensive system you have.

What the hell does Casey have to do with anything? Casey opted for our offensive lineups over defensive ones that performed much better. He should have built on defensive success and made an offense that fit that system. That's what he said he was committed to and it was a straight lie. Our best defensive starting lineup had Ross out and JJ in. It had a better NetRtg and the bench unit with Ross also outperformed the opponents. He went away from that.

Starters- Lowry, DD, JJ, Amir, JV:
98.7 OffRtg, 85.8 DefRtg, 12.9 NetRtg

Bench- GV, Lou, Ross, PP, Hans:
114 OffRtg, 103.8 DefRtg, 10.3 NetRtg

That's what we should have built off of and developed but people were inexplicably obsessed with spacing and offensive issues in the starting line-up despite locking teams down defensively and improving our NetRtg against teams that way.

For the record, our starters this year with that spacing:
107.2 OffRtg, 104.7 DefRtg, 2.6 NetRtg.
