Arthur: Lowry didn't want to re-sign here if Casey retained
This is not an endorsement of Casey, but Lowry feels like he is legit tier 1 superstar, and he's not. The early season MVP talk was steroids for his ego, not in a good way.
I'm all for ego, but I think Lowry enjoys reminding people / teammates that he's "the man" too much. His comments re game 7 "next time I will make the shot" (what about pass or simply make the right basketball play?), Lowry's comments in preseason "this is my team and i will lead my group into battle", up until game 3 when he was asked if he thinks we should adjust ball distribution to get others involved "no, me DeRozan and Lou get our shots, that's what we do, everyone e understands that"... Now I know some of you may say all of those comments are good, and what you want from A leader, but here's the problem, kyle hasn't won a damn thing in his career. Ever. You don't think, rightfully or wrongfully, that Patterson Vasquez JJ and even JV don't have big egos? Why would, or should, they listen to Kyle dictate to them that him and Lou get all the shots? When has Kyle ever proven that he's a winner??
The great thing about our guys is that our group will always say the right thing, because they're good teammates. I always found it odd how guys like GV and PPat go out of there way to say that this its Kyles team. I'm sure they all do like Kyle a whole lot too but winning masks a lot. clearly there are issues in the locker room and it really does seem to me to be a Kyle Lowry ego trip. The problem with the guys I just rattled off above is that none of them have a winni g history either, so who are they to call out Kyles ego? Make themselves look like a bad teammate? Nah. That's precisely why they talk to the media about needing to play unselfish basketball, hero ball, and needing a veteran jack ass in the locker room. To reign in Kyles ego.
I suspect that Masai is going to sit down with Kyle and have one of those heart to hearts with him. If he doesn't think Kyle can learn from this humiliating loss, specifically on how to be a better a leader, and better empower your foot soldiers (teammates), then Kyle will be gone.

Lowry does tend to act all pissy all the time. I wonder exactly what he was saying/doing to screw things up.

Lowry is journeyman PG, who is he to call any shots? I think he is the problem in the locker room. I can't see any other player on the team having that sense of entitlement to dictate who and isn't the coach.
His lazy fouls killed us in the playoffs

Strange that a guy with trust issues had his best season last year while constantly being in trade rumours.

Something is up that's for sure. I guess I was wrong about the guy. I figured he'd probably change and adjust, being a veteran almost 30 years old now. And everyone says he was hurt, injured, whatever. Mike Conley is playing with a golf ball in his right foot and owning Lillard. Seems more like a mental injury rather then a physical one.

Kyle might be a difficult guy to build a team with but we have seen how good he and his team can be when he's apparently happy

Lowry has father issues that always spill over to how he treats his coaches. The guy just needs to focus on getting in shape, staying healthy and doing what it takes to make his teammates better. PG is the one position where you can't have a diva attitude or it ends up permeating throughout the team.

Re: Arthur: Lowry didn't want to re-sign here if Casey retained
Honestly, I wouldn't blame Lowry. If I was one of top performer of the team and I knew that I had a coach that really doesn't know what he's doing in terms of X's and O's, someone who inept at defensve strategy and yet that's his specialty and someone who really doesn't have a clue in terms of offensive strategy.
What the hell is Casey good for?! I want out of RAPTORS ASAP!!!

I think this is the problem in nutshell. Last year it was all about the team and how they were bunch of underdogs. If there was I, it was always DD/I.
This year it become my team and I'm the leader, etc. It also showed in his play. He tried to hit all the big shots and all the daggers. That stretch without DD was the beginning of the downfall as instead of taking a balanced approach, he took it upon himself to "carry" the team. Even at his peak, I don't think any team will have success if you are relying on someone of Lowrys talent to carry them. Lowry could have achieved much more if he was more of leader and facilitated + empowered his teammates instead of trying to do too much on his own.

I agree. The problem is no one in our locker room has the Paul Pierce pedigree to tell Kyle where to stick his sense of entitlement. The only guy that has the championship pedigree is Casey, as we all saw with his ring. But it really and truly can't be the coaches voice all the time. DeRozan needs to step up, but that's not DeRozan, so Kyle is left to dictate te shots and let his ego run wild.
Kyle still is te best player on our team, but he's not THAT special. Masai has a tough call on What to do with him this summer....

Well if Casey was running a bunch of terrible defensive schemes that doesnt suit our personnel and an offensive game plan that is flawed, id be mad as hell too.

Both need to go! Lowry and Casey!
Casey is a bad coach....
Lowry will cause problems with any coach they bring in. It was obvious after Kyle's great start to the season his ego took over the team and destroyed the chemistry!

Whats crazy is that this team couldnt win without Lowry being at his best. So we trade him to keep the incompetent coach? Dear lord.
Id rather see Lowry get his ass in shape & get a new coach or both gone

If we assumed this was true, it would add a bit of context to the derozan-casey conversation they both referenced

Agreed
'the team' > 'the man'
And maybe Lowry's selection for all-star weekend had a negative impact on the team.
Also, I'm not necessarily a fan of Casey, but I hope Realgmers realize that they don't know much what the head coach has to deal with. He has much much more knowledge, stats, video analysis, interactions with players, discussions 'behind closed doors', etc Its too easy to criticize a coach on Internet.
"But the thing is, maybe I do want to wake up one morning and say, `Baby, let's go to the Bahamas. Today.' That costs money. So what if I want to do that?

Ship him out ASAP. He got paid to be the leader and just returned to his old headcase persona. Frankly Im done with the guy. You cant build a winning program when the ball handler is causing major chemistry issues. The toronto fan base wont accept him as easily anymore
