Very not happy about this. See ya KD and Russ. We almost got a decade and no championships out of you because our FO went from looking like geniuses to looking like morons in the span of about 5 years.

I'm being melodramatic, yes, and hopefully I'm wrong and Donovan proves to be a very good NBA coach, but I really, really, REALLY do not like this hire if this ends up being Presti's guy.

I'll give a chance, but he's gotta win me over, and its not gonna be easy. This has Nuggets post-George Karl written all over it.

Why are you guys being this dramatic?

KD apparently felt fine with the departure of Brooks, no doubt he was told about the decision beforehand.

Donovan from what I've read runs a screen heavy offense and incorporates a big in the middle (like kanter and Ibaka who can shoot and finish Pick N Rolls), he's a defensive coach too.

According to Woj KD has reached out to several former UF players to gain an opinion on Donovan and has become generallly positive about the potential hiring.

I'm neutral on it for now. I want to see who they bring in as the assistants. I find it hard to believe that Donovan can come in and screw this team up IF everyone is healthy. I also find it very hard to believe that KD isn't on board with Donovan.

I have a slightly positive feeling, but it would have been more positive if they just kept Brooks, which is saying to me that I don't like this too much. College coaches just don't usually translate well, and there's 1 season for KD to change his mind. This was the worst time to do it and the front office may very well have just killed a contender.

Presti has wanted to fire Brooks since 2012 and wanted to hire Brad Stevens at a time where he was low on everyone's radar.

This has probably been in Presti's head for the past year with the hirings of Billy's assistants and personally knowing Donovan for more than a decade.

I don't think he rushed this.

Better than they are now....I'd bet they'd love to be that good again, and wonder if OKC will feel the same soon.

Love to scrap into the playoffs knowing your season goal is to make it into the second round...

Thunder were a championship caliber team with Brooks (I like SB) though stagnating a bit.

Thunder will be a championship caliber team with XXX as Head coach.

Very under valued point you make with the hiring of Billys assistants , pointing to Presti has been looking at this route for a while.

Try to be positive. :D

Why would Durant go anywhere?
Wizards organization is not smart, they were one of the worst through years. Who will he have there? Wall and Beal? They are not that good.
Only other option is maybe Lakers, but again their roster will be almost empty in 2016. with only Randle and this year top 5 pick.
So he will waste season 2016/17 only on adaption with new teamates and new coach.

Durant will stay, not because he thinks he owes Thunder, but because he will have best supporting cast, huge money and respect of whole basketball world for staying with one team whole career(this will be very important for his brand and legacy).

I don't think this is that big of a deal. He is a good coach that fits the Thunder way. If KD, Russ, and Ibaka are healthy this is a championship team if I am coaching them.

This seems like an enormous risk. Brooks isn't equipped to do it but Donovan is? Donovan seems like a good college coach but it's going to be a huge adjustment going to the nba. The offensive philosophies are quite a bit different.

I don't know if he'd do it or if OKC would want him, but I think D'Antoni would be a good assistant to have to help with offensive philosophies. They have the personnel that is perfect to run that offense with stretch fours and shooters. Get that ball movement going, and Donovan focuses on D, it could work and be fun to watch.

But that might not be a popular opinion (since D'Antoni gets such a bad rap) and both sides might not want that.

The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...
