Knight S&T for Calderon, #5.

hahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Good one. I wouldn't be interested in overpaying Knight forget giving up the 5th pick.

Forget getting Knight and getting rid of Calderon in one move.

5th pick is WAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more valuable than the $3m in savings on Calderon's deal with the stretch provision. And Brandon Knight at $12+ million per year becomes a bad contract right away. Sorry, no interest in moving the #5 pick for Knight, or Bledsoe or any other of these guys who are getting paid max based on potential. I'll take Justice Winslow for 3 million over either of those dudes.

Now, it the conversation was moving down from 5 to say 10 and piking up a player like Bledsoe then it's worth a discussion. But probably not. We will keep our pick and cap space.

From what I've seen from him, he has questionable decision-making skills, isn't really a leader-type of player & meh 3PT shooter. Those three things that I just listed are PARAMOUNT for PGs. If you list all of the top tier PGs in the NBA, most likely, they have all of those three things checked off. You would like to think that after signing a 5/70 contact, he would elevate his game from last season...but that didn't happen. I kinda expected him to go off once Dragic was traded away to the Heat...but nothing..his pre/post all star splits are almost identical. At times, I feel like he coasted through games and didn't put 100% effort in every possession..maybe that was the product of him conserving energy (i.e. he was practically the main guy..post all star) but still.

I get that he is among a handful of players that averaged his stat line and that alone is impressive. That said, I'm not too sure if Bledsoe would really fit with Sacramento. Sure, his defensive abilities and his slashing skills are nice to have but given that our two main players are Rudy & Cousins, you really need shooters around them to make things work. Can Bledsoe function with those two players as the alpha dogs? Bledsoe tasted the opportunities as a primary option in Phoenix, I don't think he would give that up if that means to take a back seat as a 3rd or even 4th option on offense...especially if the team isn't really that good to begin with..

I agree with the decision making. However, all things considered he is the best PG on the market (if he is actually on the market). His 3P% will improve if you surround him with players like Gay and Boogie who draw attention. Most importantly, his relationship with Boogie would go a long way to appeasing Boogie for another couple years, something that should be PARAMOUNT to any Kings fan.

What position do you think Bledsoe can excel at if he was in Sacramento?

Here was the Kings starting 5:

Collison
BMac
Rudy
Thompson
Cousins

Would a 2-pg lineup work with Collison & Bledsoe? And maybe put Rudy at the 4 spot too?

Collison (37.3% 3PT)
Bledsoe (33.5 3PT -- Suns' career)
Casspi (40.2% 3PT)
Rudy (36% 3PT)
Cousins

What do you think?

Knicks / Suns

Knicks (Pick 1, 2 or 3)
for
Bledsoe (14 m/yr)
Markieff Morris (8 m/yr)
Marcus Morris (5m/yr)
Tucker (5m/yr)
Pick 12, 13 or 14
*Suns add Heat 2018 first pick if Knicks land #1

*Knicks sign Deandre Jordan for the max.
C: Jordan
PF: Morris
SF: Anthony
SG: Tucker
PG: Bledsoe
with spare change to fill the bench and pick 12,13 or 14 to trade for another useful asset.

Not sure if it works under cap? With a rising cap Landry really won't make a difference if suns decide to rebuild. Tucker offers that versatility the kings could use, and I imagine suns would want TJ to play heavy minutes if they do rebuild.

It's an interesting idea, but some things first.

- Adding Tucker is way too much value going to Sactown, I think we could look to move Tucker to a contender somewhere in a separate deal that should bring back more young assets maybe

- I'm not sure if we would trade Bledsoe to another team in the West and make them elite basically, maybe it's not an issue, I don't know, Bled/Gay/Cousins is a damn good core that could win a whole lot of games next season w/ Karl

- 6th is low enough that maybe the guy we're looking for will be gone

- We would also probably want one of Mclemore or Stauskas

Then why wasn't PHX elite ???

- Because Bledsoe is best suited as a 2nd option at best, but is being shoehorned as a 1st option
- Bad fitting players, the GM was simply accumulating talent over "fit", 3 PGs at one point, then added another combo PG/SG next to Bledsoe.... GM clearly looking for talent, coach in the other hand trying to please players.

Same reason as why Thunder missed the playoffs, even though they had a top 5 player in Westbrook going HAM.

Sometimes talent is not enough, you need the soldier/team mentality to click.

Phil trades his pick to help melo win now and they can go out and look for their 3rd star in free agency to form their own big 3. They also gain future flexibility and still get to draft a rookie in the lotto at #13.

PHX gets their choice at Mudiay, Russell, or KAT/Okafor as their future franchise cornerstone. I'm sure the Suns could take calderon back as well for extra incentive to get phil to pull the trigger if needed.
i would do that in a heartbeat...it would have to be post draft because we can't trade a puck

If the deal is Bledsoe for six, Landry, and Stauskas.

Bledsoe/Collison/McCallum
BMac
Gay
Thompson/Moreland
Cousins

This would leave SAC with about $10 million in cap space (cap holds renounced). I would use the cap space to add someone like Danny Green if possible. Afflalo, Crawford, Belinelli, Jerebko, Singler, Gerald Green and Jeff Green are all possible FA additions. I think SAC should use Collison and a future pick or McCallum with Thompson's expiring contract to add shooting, preferably at the 4/5.

Danny Green is good but he's benefiting from the Spur's system where passing and unselfishness are key features. Crawford is a gunslinger and is decent, Belinelli is meh, Jerebko isn't good enough, Singler is ehh, GG is fine but he's getting old & Jeff Green is average as vanilla. That FA pool is meh in general with the exception of AA but even him is coming from an injury and hasn't look all that great himself.

I don't like Bledsoe as the primary ball handler. I feel we need an additional ball handler in the backcourt to share PG duties. That is why I'm keen to keep Collison.

Everything you said is somewhat true, however you would think that Bledsoe would give anything to play with his best friend in Cousins, chemistry and fit wise I don't think you have to worry about that at all.

Phoenix does it in a second too.

If I'm not mistaken, the trade would just have to go down any time after NY drafts the player right? Or I guess the Suns could just tell you who to draft

I'm not sure. Patrick Patterson (Kentucky guy & Cousins' friend) was absolute ass when he played with Cousins/Kings. That didn't help him at all lol

Maybe with Bledsoe (Bledsoe >> PPat) it would be different but still have question marks.

Still, Bledsoe-to-Kings idea is very intriguing.
