JR has a long history of that stuff, his punch resulted in a guy blowing his knee out

Mikes punch resulted in some wounded pride, pardon if we don't shed a tear for MCW.

Giannas and MCW got their revenge in that very same game, far as I'm concerned this is squashed

What point is that? That he is a hothead who can be taken out of a game? Giannis is going to get a lot more of that now. An NBA player will happily take being body-blocked in exchange for getting a starter ejected, particularly when that player is a role guy like Mike.

This.

To add to it, they will gladly take a body check if it means WINNING. That's the goal. If someome throws an elbow, you throw one back. Someone shoves you, you shove back. They play physical, you play physical. You don't tackle a guy because it doesn't help your team win.

All of you guys on here talking about retribution and calling people babies are the real babies. "Oh he gave me an elbow he deserved it." Boo hoo. You sound like 5 year olds saying,"he hit me first." Shove him back and put some damn points on the board.

Sorry, but you would have been knocked right on your ass by Zo or Oakley back in the day right after you told them how mentally weak they were. Of course you retaliate. Of course you do. If you're a jerk you retaliate with a flying elbow to the head ala Mailman and send the guy to the hospital. If you are a kid in these later days its just a flying shoulder block into the mid body.

But the beauty of this was: Giannis waited until it did not hurt his team. Dunleavy gained no advantage here. The game, series, and season was over THEN Giannis punked him. As I said: good. Giannis does this in Game 2 and takes himself out of the series, not so good. Then you lose. You need your guys to bottle things while you need them to compete. But once things in the game were already settled, good a time as any to settle up with the cheap shot artist. No whining to the refs. Playground rules. Unprovoked, then you are the punk. Provoked? No problem with it at all.

Oh my god, what a joke. Dunleavy pushed Giannis in the neck which made him fall. So Giannis got up, rushed down the court, and tackled him. Please do not act as if Giannis had any grand ideas about time, score, and revenge. He got pushed, saw red, and hit a guy. Do not make his totally heat-of-the-moment response into some orchestrated brilliance.

Charles Oakley was a dumbass who never made an NBA Final in 20 years. He did stupid stuff like this (going after a guy in a shootaround, LOL) that didn't help his team. He did it because he was mentally weak.

Toronto Raptors forward Charles Oakley was suspended for three games without pay and fined $15,000 by the NBA yesterday for punching Los Angeles Clippers guard Jeff McInnis during the morning shootaround.

Giannis punked him RIGHT AFTER Dunleavy pushed him while the bucks missed a shot and bulls rebounded the ball. Giannis fell and then ran at him.

He wasn't thinking "well the game, series, season is over, now I'll go tackle him." He just went after it in direct response to that play, that was the last straw. Don't make it seem like this was in any way, shape or form an intelligent play by Giannis.

You only knock them back when it helps you gsin an advantage some how. That's the way Zo and all those guys did it. Dunleavy is laughing all the way to the 2nd round.

Just watched some "vines" as you kids like to do, but to me it seems Dunleavy should be getting suspended multiple games for his cheap shot work in this series.

Then again id be suspending guys like chris paul multiple games for flopping so my opinion doesn't matter much.

I've dug deep for years trying to find a clip of Dunleavy's ejection and jersey throw embarrassment. The Facepalm meme has been done to death, so no reason to keep that dinosaur going, but that really was an honest-to-goodness facepalm moment. Mike Dunleavy is in fact the worst.

Last two minutes here:

   That made my morning. And I cannot believe somebody spent the time to make a Mike Dunleavy "highlight" (real loose interpretation of the word) reel for the 2004-05 season.
That's hilarious and co

Curious how many games you felt JR should have gotten.

I don't see the big deal. Perk Crowder was worse and Perk stayed in the game.

Did not read thru the whole thread, so if it was posted I apologize.

From earlier this season Dunleavy making no play at all on the ball with Lillard in the air:

The punch shouldn't have been thrown period and doesn't have a place in the game of basketball. If a player did that to anyone on your team, let alone to a starter, you would be singing a different tune.

I'm not excusing what Giannis did but Dunleavy has a history of pulling off crap like this to provoke players.

Probably 5 games for jr based on his past fighting. Dunleavy should have been tossed and suspended. A punch to the head is a punch to the head, it has no place in the game whatsoever. The fact that anyone would defend that is absurd, there is literally no way to justify it. He makes no basketball play, he literally just throws a punch at a guy in mid air when he's helpless. Maybe MCW should have came down, smacked his head on the floor and gone brain dead, then people would take the cheap shot seriously. It was an egregious missed call considering it happened in the act of shooting.
