No, the board liked both picks. Daniels was a lot quicker off the ball than this guy.

No, IIRC, the board liked both picks.

I think that we viewed the Worthy pick the same way we would have viewed the Dawson pick if we had taken him in the 2nd or 3rd. We had a major, major, need at the position and it was Thompson making moves to fill that need. It isn't really his style. I think that the Worthy pick is a good reminder that sometimes just filling the need is a bad call.

Worthy had injury issues otherwise I think he could have been good. That wasn't a bad pick when it was made.

He looked mighty awful. Constant offsides penalties. Got mashed out of running plays and didn't penetrate against the pass. Injury or not I think he was a bust.

From what I'm seeing, he was 293 at his pro day.
Then we're seeing different stories.

That's a false equivalency. You're using, in retrospect, the failure of the Worthy pick, to justify your aversion to Dawson. Really, we won't know what Dawson is as an NFL player until a couple years from now, and a lot of people liked Worthy individually because he had potential and played particularly well against the Badgers for whatever reason. The knocks on Worthy were he wasn't very productive overall or consistent. The knocks on him and Dawson couldn't be much different. But still they were both projected to go around our pick. I think JSOnline had Dawson as the #1 ILB.

Daniels played at Iowa. This is a small school guy. Whether 277 or 293 he's usually 30+ on competition. I hope he's a Daniels clone. Really do. As of now. Do t see it.

That is fair, Bern. And, to be honest, I still would have been good with taking Dawson in the 3rd.

McCarthy is saying that Ringo was compared to Mike Daniels a lot in the war room.

The little bit he played he did some good and bad things as you would expect. Liked him a lot coming out of Mich State. Justin Harrel was a different story - he had lots of injury history and was a 1st. That was a Ted blunder, I get the Worthy pick - he was considered pretty good value where he was chosen at the time -hindsight is 20/20.

Daniels and this guy are two different situations - Daniels was a 4th this guy is a 6th. Daniels had much higher competition, much less risk. I like this pick in the 6th. I like the guys motor - a lot of times these guys get lazy and take plays off- this guy has a hiistory of just keep coming, looks like he really likes the game. I flashed some advanced stats to before --did you see that? Not a bad 6th round pick - be a player I will want to watch in preseason closely.

Great moment when asked about L/S, said it was ESPN's mistake. Rob D said it was their first one and the entire room laughed.

You could tell simply from the questions that there was not a lot of information out there about Christian Ringo, especially given that he was said to be a long snapper.
