4/4 2nd Game of the Season VS Cubbies!!

Post#1 » by Nuggetsfanduh98 » Wed Apr 4, 2007 6:05 pm

Have a chance to see if we got the same old Bronson Arroyo as he will match up against Ted lilly who the cubs spent quite a bit of money to get this past summer.

Arroyo vs Lilly.

GO REDS!!!!!!!!!! 2-0.

I don't know if cooler weather help Arroyo's stuff or not; but it seemed last year he did better with cooler weather.

Arroyo is about as yo-yo a pitcher as you can get. Definitely will be interesting to see which one shows up this game and this season. I think the switch from the AL to the NL will help Lilly a lot. He doesn't have the greatest stuff and used to get nailed by deep AL lineups but he's crafty enough to work around the meat of NL lineups and look for the bottom of the order guys.

It's going to be kind of tough for Lilly to work for the bottom of the order tonight. What's the best he can hope for? Obviously he has to avoid Dunn and Griffey, but Phillips, Hatteberg, and Ross can hurt just as much. Encarnacion stayed up there for most of last season, but I suppose Encarnacion, Gonzalez, and Arroyo are where he'd want to pitch, but there are batters between the 3.

New season, same result. 11 strikeouts and 10 LOB. 3 Ks by our leadoff hitter. Brandon Phillips hasn't even gotten a hit yet(I certainly hope he wasn't a one season wonder). We can't get hits with runners on base. Plain and simple. Poor Bronson, we squander so many of his good pitching performances.

I'll be trite for now--it is early in the season, some bats just don't come out of the gate well. Patience (for a little while, at least).
