Hack a Dwight do you do it?

Post#1 » by NBAWestFan » Mon May 4, 2015 6:18 pm

People on the Radio or asking if they should agree not to do it for both teams
and if it works.

I say yes do it from the start. Hack a Howard with some Spencer Hawes or bench player.

Basketball is a mental game. Right a way you are showing him that we question his shooting ability
from the Free Throw and his shooting ability in general.

DJ has thought about it alot lately and it has gotten to him.

Do it to Dwight so he has to think about his shooting in-ability.
Then he will either snap through it or start thinking about how he is a bad shooter.

But at least you made him think he cannot shoot and it may be important to this series.

There was a game last season where McHale employed the Hack-a-DJ and then Doc returned the favor on Dwight. I think it'll happen if one of the coaches starts it.

Yea this is an odd series in that both teams may implicitly agree not to do it to avoid them both playing without essential players. I think that's how it'll go. Nobody wants to watch 5 air balled free throws a night.

If we are strugglin then I'd do the hack-a-Dwight/Jones/Smith to force HOU to go small and then when can use Blake to post up.

I rather this not happen since bkth teams have some poor free throw shooters. We say from last night that both coaches did it. I'm against it for the simple fact that the game will be longer. There could be a situation where it's a long back and forth, which would be brutal.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

i'd love to see more hack a hack. if you put this out there for everyone to see, then the complaints will grow loud enough that the competition committee can no longer ignore it.

How long could a game stretch out if both teams really pursued the strategy? At some point you run out of fouls I guess...

It shouldn't be done period. I think it kills the game, and frankly is a bitch move whether Popovich or Doc do it. Much of our fan base was complaining about Popovich doing this to Deandre but are errily silent when Doc does it to Howard. The NBA needs to get rid of this..they should fine people for doing it like they do with flopping

I absolutely hate it and think the rule should be changed, for a few drawn out reasons that I posted about on the GB, and I wish Doc wouldn't do it because I think he invoked the back and forth hacking of DJ in the first game by starting it. I don't think people are necessarily complaining about Pop using it, as much as making a complaint about the idiotic loophole in the rules that allows it. At least that's how I feel. The coaches are almost under obligation to do so in their teams interest, when they can notch their opponents ortg down from ~110 to ~70 over 5, 10, however many possessions. That can translate into enough points on average to decide games.
