I'm hoping to kill the expectation that Casey is guaranteed to come back next year. To me, saying "Casey is our coach" in the context that he did (i.e. stating a fact, but not committing to it) leads me to believe Masai is going to consider other coaching options. But that's just me.

Honestly from that listen to me when you are not complimenting your coach and somewhat endorsing the things he has done for you than to me he is looking else where. When this current coach has brought you the best record in franchise history and you can't even say something like that tells me enough. Casey is gone guys.

Thanks for all the recap everyone.

Kinda surprised Masai didn't have much to say.

What was the point of coming on then?..

Oh well. We continue to sit. And wait...

Thanks again all.

The fact that he still hasn't come out and said Casey is the head coach speaks volumes. He's more out the door than he is in at this point.

No doubt about it. He did not commit to Casey. Having said that, I don't think he has decided to get rid of him either. I really don't know why he does interviews like this when he has no new info.

So...my original post wasn't that far off. Just not outsourcing to India.

But to be honest, I actually liked what he said. It really seems like he's waiting for options to open up (after playoffs, free agency, draft, etc), and then he'll see what he is able to do. I feel like he's leaning towards a youth movement. He doesn't seem to have enough faith in this team to just go out and get some vets and then hope that this team succeeds again. If he did, he would come out and say it.

The fact that he's so non-committal to the players and the coach is telling. Last summer, both him and Leiweke basically came out the day after the playoffs and said that they were going after Lowry. He was their guy. We aren't hearing any of that. He's just holding off and trying to keep the value of his players as high as possible (aka no throwing anyone under the bus or blowing up situations).

It should be a fun summer.

Masai is smart. He doesn't need to make a public decision on Casey now. What good does it serve the team, all it does is please the rabid fan base that is looking for a head to roll after a disastrous post season. He can wait longer and put out feelers for who would be available while giving Casey an opportunity to present a case for what he would do differently. Right now is a lul period, no trades or drafting just data processing and exit meetings. Casey can wait longer to make a move.

I found his dig on Feschuck amusing. Wing defender issue being mentioned by Masai might be a hint that is something big on our to do list this summer. Or he just tired of Feschucks rants, who knows.

Thanks for the recap and summation of the interview homie.

Appreciate your take as well on it.

I guess we're waiting on a specific coach, maybe it's Thibs. Maybe, it's Messina. Who knows.

I still think Steve Nash is in play for the job, too.

Np man. Yea he could be waiting out on a certain coach he wants like the ones you stated. Or maybe MLSE are telling Masai well Casey can go only if you find someone better. After all Masai did bring up the fact that Casey has won a chip and you can't deny that. So who knows, but firing Casey would be the start in the right direction.

Did you get a feel for what he's going to do with the roster?

Absolutely untrue. Whatever you think of Masai's work on the team so far, he is a complete 180 from BC. For one thing, he never tries to sell you on what he's doing; he's not a used car salesman. He doesn't use the media much to push an agenda and he likes to keep his cards close to his vest. This is why people are so disappointed by every interview he does. He just does not want to tell the media too much. I've also never seen Masai outright lie about anything either.

THANK YOU.

It's like ppl are begging for a competent GM yet their demands are that of BC's type (media savvy, salesman, always looking to fix things, risk taking, etc).

To me it sounds like he wants to build from what we have so no rebuild. However he did say we have lots of flexibility this time around in terms of making a major move now or in 16. He also said there are some players that are out of reach. To me it seems he is still figuring it out whether to go after vets or go younger. We will see in a few months!

Isn't it bad ethics to wait a while before firing Casey? If he is non committal, then fire him now. The longer he waits, it seems like Casey might stay.

But, Masai did say that he hasn't interviewed players and I believe coaches, as he wants them to calm down and not be so emotional after being swept. Seems like he wants to interview them when their emotions have died down

We'd all love clarity because the direction is unknown to us (and we're scared), but did you really think you'd get it?

Everyone should just judge MU on his performance, I think it's fair to judge him on this offseason. But he's not gonna tip his hand, it doesn't make his job any easier to do so. Even if revealing something may not affect his ability to get something done, you just never know, so it's better to remain obtuse.

At least he's not trying to sell himself or spin things. That's what BC would do. MU seems content to let his work speak for itself.

Only thing he has in common with BC is repeating the same phrases over and over. MU loves 'evaluating' and 'assessing', BC loved 'flexibility' and 'going forward'. Maybe that's something he picked up from BC working under him.

Raps got swept in the first round, and largely with Colangelo's acquisitions. I don't think anyone can say how smart Masai is --- the jury is still out.

So Casey accepts responsibility. Must be after everybody was trashing him. If they are having 4-5 hour discussions a day about what went wrong maybe Casey will just quit. That would be nice.
why was hakeem called "the dream"??"

Because it rhymes with 'Olajuwon'.

Don't forget Ime Udoka, Spurs assistant. Ita nice to know there's actually a few good options out there.

Doubt it. But after showing his championship ring, he may do it. That was a sign of Casey being insecure bringing the championship ring to the conference
