I think my biggest problem with him is I don't think he's a sure thing and right now he isn't great at anything. He's a lot riskier of a pick IMO.

This guy is the pure definition of boom or bust.

Have any of this team's risky picks ever worked out? Ever?
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

We rarely make risky picks though. You could argue that our riskiest pick of the past decade was Ajinca. But that was back during the time of Larry Brown's length fetish...

Biyombo though, technically. Dude had been playing ball for only a few years and was thought to be an absolute project by every scout as well as the team itself. Silas said he was 3 years away after his rookie year and was 100% right. Now he's a solid contributor on top of being one of the best rim protectors and rebounders in the league - despite the fact that we jerked him around for some really dumb reasons the past seasons.

You have to draft with a short memory. Hell, if Sacramento was gun-shy over taking bigs, and they'd have every reason to be, then they'd have stayed away from Cousins. My only reasons for not wanting Oubre are the fact that he's raw at a position where we don't have solid development at all. On top of that, there's no doubt in my mind that he'd be nailed to the bench harder than Noah was.

Would be a decent pick if none of the more touted prospects take an unexpected tumble. Seems like his strengths are defense and soft shooting touch. It can't hurt to have another long athletic defender on the perimeter and it sounds like his percentages are good when you remove some of the more obvious heat check attempts. I don't know enough about his personality to guess if fixing the shot selection is realistic or not.

this is the time to roll the dice imo... i wouldn't be surprised if we picked him, as a matter of fact - i DO expect us to draft him.

I just don't think it'll work.

I would be ok with Oubre, but definitely not at 9. If we move back then sure, but he is way too risky to take in the top 10 when we definitely need to make sure this pick gets us some good value.

came here to post that link... of course JDR already has it posted. I am convinced JDR operates in an alternate world that is 5 minutes ahead of ours.

If we can't get Hezonja, I think we should try to move back a few spots and go after him.

I have actually grown to like Oubre a lot. I think he was a bit of a victim of Bill Self's system at Kansas. But he's shown that he has some seriously impressive skills and is an amazing athlete. His defense is also very, very good.

My biggest concern with him would be trying to figure out how to play him alongside MKG by the time Oubre is ready to start. Easily the biggest concern with him is whether or not he'll be able to shoot three-pointers in the NBA.

I agree with the sentiment that I think picking him at 9 would be a bit of a reach. Would definitely prefer to trade back and get him where he's projected at around 12.

Not super enthralled based on scouting report/vids. I'm not super trusting in our ability to develop him to his "full potential." Like his stroke though.

He reminds me of higher risk Otto Porter.
