A rookie is not cracking our lineup next year at any spot with Randy. I want a young high ceiling player swing for the fences looking down the road.

This might be best for him, he might be better off trying to become a Dirk like player and playing most of his minutes at 4 and not the 5. But he will probably still play some 5. Not unless Wood falls to the 48th pick, because just getting Frank would likely cost their 1st round picks for 2015 and 2016.

It depends on the rookie. If anything, Beal was rushed into the starting lineup. They've had so few talented rookies under Wittman that you can't be sure. Rice doesn't count because of his immaturity. I think he'd play Kaminsky because of his maturity.

Jerian Grant might get PT as a combo guard. He isnt playing a rookie big over our bigs.
He jerked Otto around alot any time he got minutes he produced. But Randy was very sporadic and inconsistent with Otto getting PT. To many one mistake and jerk him deals. Regardless of playoff runs Randy holds this team back. Humphries getting 0 PT is a joke that is the type of hustler we need. Nene gets free passes to poop all over the court. He is a slow plodder on his rotations but faces no consequences for his lethargic play regardless of his game 3 performance he has been a turd.

Not necessarily, I feel like this is going to be one of those drafts where a lot of people are not going to go where we think. The rockets and the buck could both move their picks. I feel like if you offer a 2016 protected to them they might be willing to dump that pick to save cash then you have 2 picks. Both Frank and Portis could be sitting there in the late teens.

I could see one possibility where this comes into play. A team using its draft pick on a player this summer then has that player (and his salary) on the books in the Super Summer of Sixteen. But, if they defer that pick to next year's draft, they get a lower salary (1st year for a '16 draftee vs. 2nd year for a '15 draftee), plus only count the 100% slot number vs. the 120% that always ends up being the actual salary (does that rule still apply?) It might mean the difference of a few Hundred $K - probably not enough to make a team want to do it, but a minor incentive. Or, if a team is looking to make a splash this summer (PHX? Houston?), they might get out of this year's pick for another shot at next year's.
Still think it's unlikely, but sure would be nice....

Do you think the odds of keeping the 1st round pick are greater than 50/50?

Yeah - definitely better than keeping the 2nd round pick.
Speaking of 2nd round picks, this is a player who doesn't fit the NBA body profile but has put up excellent college stats - Rayvonte Rice. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Ray ... 185/stats/ He's listed at 6'4 233 - looks a little shorter than that. Gotta ask CCJ, Kev or anyone else with a system for evaluating college stats - Is he a legit prospect?

The kid reminds me a lot of beal. He rebounds well, Plays solid D, Has decent size, and a god body. He shoots 3's well, but his overall fg% is not great. He has tools to work with and could become a decent shooter and a good defender. He does not turn the ball over a lot but does not dish out a lot of assists, that tells me he is at least a some what decent passer.
I have not watched him play much and I can not speak to his effort, speed or attitude.

The odds of us keeping our 1st rounder are close to 100%. The only way we trade it is if we get a big fish like Love or Durant. I really don't think EG will trade it for some mediocre veteran. EG has a plan. That plan is to have the best possible roster to place around Durant, while having enough cap room to go after Durant. In 2016, we're better off having the 2015 #19 draft pick in his second season earning $1.3M than having a veteran combo guard or stretch four earning $6M.

I wonder if any other team might be considering selling a pick. EG probably doesn't think we have room on the roster, but I would like to see us try to grab 2 firsts if we could buy one.
Also, Myles Turner had a 9'4" standing reach. I already liked him better than Kaminsky and Portis. I still think we ought to try to move up a few slots to make sure we get Kaminsky or Portis. I know PIF agrees!

Wow, there were a lot of bigs that measured very well - a lot of them a little longer than I would have expected. Rakeem Christmas might have earned 1st round consideration. Upshaw had the best standing reach, the best wingspan, and the longest and widest hands. I guess it all depends on how he does with interviews - If he does poorly, he might not get drafted, but if he does real well, someone will use a 1st round pick on him.

Ok, I put that out-there because we have tried to unload Webster the last two years. I don't know how-much is left on his contract, but I would not be surprised to see the pick be packaged in a trade just like this-years first rounder was. Something to keep an eye-on on draft night.

Christmas is same size as Horford/Kanter and bigger than Tristan Thompson. I think he can play a good bit of Center. Im impressed
Portis, Lyles, Looney and Wood all measured in pretty well
Aaron white is a sleeper and measured in better than Dekker
Cliff Alexander is becoming real appealing...
RJ Hunter has higher standing reach than Stanley Johnson... Stan might have problems playing small ball 4 in the league

My Draft Wishlist (as of today factoring in positions and who I think may be available for the Wizards)
1. Trey Lyles - Not my favorite player in the draft but a need pick as a potential stretch 4 with some perimeter skills
2. Jerian Grant - Think he can be a great combo guard who slides right in behind Wall/Beal
3. RJ Hunter - Great shooter would give us depth behind Beal and at his length could play some 3 as he gets stronger. Can't have enough shooting
4. Kevon Looney - Another potential stretch 4
5. Tyus Jones - Talented but can he play with Wall?
I'm not a huge fan of Portis. His athleticism reminds me of Dray.

I was actually surprised at Kaminsky, I thought he'd have cody zeller like reach, but he measured really well. If he can bulk up he might have a nice future as a stretch 5. I also like Portis's reach. I don't think we'll be in position to draft either though, unless we trade up with a future '16 pick.
