Russ Westbrook

Post#1 » by CeltsfanSinceBirth » Mon May 11, 2015 2:24 pm

Was listening to the LA Leakers show on SiriusXM yesterday, and one of the DJs (I think his name was Milt) said that Westbrook happened to pop up at the club he was spinning at. The DJ, being a die-hard Laker fan, said that he stopped the music, shouted out Russ, and then pleaded "We need you on the Lakers!" Club went nuts apparently. Anyhow, he said he had a convo with Russ afterwards. The DJ said he didn't want to get Russ in trouble, or how much he was allowed to say, but in the end, this DJ just said he left the club feeling pretty happy. Makes sense I guess. Westbrook seems destined to take over after Kobe retires.

Would be fun to reload with Westbrook and Love but if there's one thing GMs hoard harder than picks, its franchise players and its too damn hard to get one let alone from Presti.

I think that Durant ends up leaving OKC as a free agent because he probably won't be able to get a good read on what Westbrook plans on doing the year after. Why would Durant stick around in OKC if there's a chance Westbrook bounces out the year after to LA? Too risky. He'll probably go home to DC and pair up with Wall and Beal. He won't be viewed as a bad guy either, since he's from that area.

Once KD leaves, it opens the door for Westbrook to bounce to you guys.

Westbrook is an LA kid, period... We will always have a shot... I hope it is try but the reality is we need to continue adding pieces and be opportunistic... The best way to get superstars is by being opportunistic, suck as Houston grabbing Harden, as they had pieces to offer... I could see Presit trading him before the 2017 deadline if he feels he will lose him...

Even if this is true, a lot can happen in the next year or two when he actually has to make a decision. I wouldn't read too much into it. LA is LA, there is a franchise player in this league somewhere who wants to take the reigns of the Lakers. It's every kids dream growing up.

If I was a professional athlete, I think I'd tell everyone I was going wherever they asked me... Get a bunch of love, and maybe some free drinks, and then do whatever made sense when it was time to sign on the dotted line.

I mean, what obligation does some DJ at some club have to observe the rules in the NBA... Think they'd fine him? Westbrook wouldn't be his bro no more? I mean really...

I like you guys, and want Westbrook to stay in OKC for obvious reasons. That said, I find it bizarre that a Celtics fan posted this.

Because I'm trying to get their hopes up, only to have their dreams crushed 2 years later.

No, seriously, I just thought it was interesting. I heard it on the radio, and it jives what everyone has been speculating for years - that if Westbrook were to leave OKC, it would be for the Lakers. Again, take it with a grain of salt.

In the end it is his decision. If that's what he wants, he can make it happen pretty easily.

What was said and happened at the club is irrelevant.
Westbrook's decision will be based on how much money he'll make and what kind of team he will have around him.
He is an LA kind of guy and I do think he'll give the Lakers a strong look.

I love his game and would love to see him in the P&G. His intensity and desire to win is the closest that I've seen to Kobe's.
He goes a 100 MPH on every play.
I hope he matures into a slightly calmer style of play, because I think his longevity will increase if he plays a little more under control and he'll be a more effective player as well.

Draft day trade Lakers pick and Jordan Clarkson for RB. Not an expert in CBA (too lazy to lookup after a workout). If RB and Lakers FO pushed for this trade would OKC bite?

Thats Right UC LA reunion

Westbrook at the MAX. Gee it is cold in OKC hmm it is 70's in CA. - Degrees in Winter in OK or low single digits
forget that stuff I like my old weather as in college days.

Love is a very good fundamental Player but need him to be less than Max to round a a TEAM to win championships.
Man after living in LAL. It s cold in Cleveland and they don't even pass me the ball to stay warm.
Sit out in the 4th quarter or Crunch time.. That will never happen as a Laker.

Westbrook,
Love,
Randle,
Clarkson
Draft pick

A good start to rebuilding

and the free agents will come.

Ehh...I don't care if an OKC mod come here or a Celtic fan even started this thread, bottom line is this Russ is two years from making anything happen. Secondly it's a lot of LA born and bread players that grew up here, don't mean playing here in automatically in the cards.

I'm so in tuned with the rebuild with youth effort Mitch obviously wants to put forth, I'm not even looking at other teams used and burnt parts. Westbrook like Rose is slowly playing his body into the ground, he's had more injuries that kept him down for the first time in his career and it's only going to be more.

My man ak7 put perfectly, at some point some young stud free agent will want to take the reigns of the Lakers. The belief that no one wants to play here is straight up asinine and the 'R' word if you ask me.
