Re: OT: Deflategate
Apparently, an official who had been selling game balls gave the ball in question to a Patriots attendant and that person give it to a referee. A set-up?

How does the head of the league turn down being interviewed before the Super Bowl?
Speaking of New Orleans, Drew Brees was on Connan the other week and was given 2 balls. He was able to guess the EXACT PSI of each.
No way Brady didn't know, but I doubt he or the Patriots are given a punishment stiff enough that they will actually regret having cheated.

Can a bag of footballs be deflated in 90 seconds?

Easily.

Except he kept saying ounces instead of pounds.

Wow. I was saying they should get hammered if true, given the franchise's disdain for the rules in the past, but they got hammered. Brady out for four games (three of which should be tough to win without him), a million dollar fine (admittedly for the organization that's an afterthought), and losing a first next year and a fourth the year after.

Sounds like Brady is going to appeal with the hope it gets reduced to two games.
Eli Manning said there is a very noticeable difference when you let out that much air. The grip on the ball was a lot better.

Re: OT: Deflategate
I've been reading comments from fans in Denver and Indy the last little while... That shizznit is straight comedy! They act like Brady killed somebody, lol, lunatics... I get it, he "cheated" and deserved to be punished... But I think most fans are overlooking the loss of a first and fourth round draft pick... That in itself is a pretty sizable punishment... Does the punishment fit the crime? "More probable than not"... But, with that said, I think they've gotten away with enough in the past that this feels about right...

Re: OT: Deflategate
Was the punishment harsh? Yes.
Should it have been? Yes.
They are 2-time offenders now and frankly, I thought they got off very lightly. I don't think the deflated balls had a ton to do with the outcome of the games, but the fact that it is happening is the reason why this should be punished. It's a rule that should be enforced.

LOL,
I think Ive had enough of deflategate. Over at the Hoopla NFL General Board, half of the board is taken up with deflategate posts. They have been going nonstop on this topic for a week. To each his own I guess. After a couple of hours I get bored with it.

Re: OT: Deflategate
I viewed this site a few weeks back, and it's full of nonsense in how they rate the severity of each individual cheat/scandal... Its great documentation of each incident, but the rest of it (their opinions and rating system) is pretty ridiculous...

Re: OT: Deflategate
Well this thing is really blowing up.
Gotta say, rightly or wrongly, Kraft's statements about why he chose to accept the league's discipline irritate the hell out of me.
"I have been negotiating agreements on a global basis my entire life, and I know there are times when you have to give up important points of principle to achieve a greater good. I acted in good faith and was optimistic that by taking the actions I took, the league would have what they wanted.
"I was willing to accept the harshest penalty in the history of the NFL for an alleged ball violation, because I believed it would help exonerate Tom."
A couple thoughts. Beyond that, I love the "exonerate Tom" bit. Translation: I decided that four games in 2015 with Tom Brady as our starter were worth giving up what was likely (assuming 16 games from Brady) to be a pick in the late-20s or 30s. Hey, I tend to agree with him. At this point, Tom has one or two more years of peak performance left. Getting him into the playoffs is more important than a first rounder for that team right now, as they are likely to suffer a setback when Tom retires - I wouldn't be shocked if that coincides with Belichick stepping away too.
But that's a calculation based on you predicting what the league will do, not based on anything they've agreed to. You conceded without any sort of promises from the league, just what you thought they should do, and now you're crying that your expected result didn't happen and you renege on your position? Really smacks of a petulant child who is accustomed to always getting his way.
