All Of A Sudden Are We Title Favorites?
Smart money has to be on the Clips right? As of now I mean. GS is struggling, we can beat Memphis, and no team out East scares me. Sure there are a lot of teams in the mix, but wouldn't you say we're the safest bet, even if only by percentage points?

Re: All Of A Sudden Are We Title Favorites?
right now i'd say smart money says yes.
but if GS starts blowing out memphis or takes them to 7 and wins, odds will go back in their favor. memphis might also become title favorites if they take warriors down in the next couple games.
but if you are are looking for best positive expectation i would bet the clippers right now.

I would say we are among a couple of the top teams right now.
Interesting that all the underseeded teams this round had/have a chance at home to go up 3-1. Let's see if Grizz and Wiz can capitalize like we did.
I think it would be awesome to have a Clippers-Cavs finals.

Re: All Of A Sudden Are We Title Favorites?
Can we wait until we know which two teams are in the title-game before we declare ourselves the favorite?
You know, this thread will look kinda silly if the Rockets take the next 3 games and we go home in the 2ND-round again...or if we actually get to the WCF and get run out in 5 games.
'Momentum' changes after every game, so teams that look "beatable" today could look like juggernauts in a week -- and vice-versa.
I just wanna beat the Rockets right now...

NO!
This thread isn't a brag thread. ESPN Stats & Info Twitter actually posted that we were the odds on favorite to win the title going into yesterday.
This isn't a getting ahead of ourselves thread. It's a question about reality.

Agree completely. The ESPN odds thingy just changed again after the Memphis game, and the Warriors are now the big time favorite again. We were dead and no one believed we could win a game more after game 3 in San Antonio. Now we're supposed to be the best thing alive for a minute. Let's stop it with the knee jerk reactions.
No one remembers DJ's problems on defense now, or Barnes inconsistent shot from outside, or how weak our bench really is, because the Rockets haven't been able to expose our flaws so far. I guarantee you all of these points are gonna be back in our ears before the post season is over.

Re: All Of A Sudden Are We Title Favorites?
Closing out the series tonight would be further proof that we have grown as a team and our championship hopes are legit. No matter how many games it takes us to get past Houston, the conference finals will be a whole different business. We won't eliminate Golden State or Memphis without playing our very best, most likely over 6-7 games, and there's a whole other series waiting after that. Everyone says that the Western champs are favorites to win it all, but I doubt the finals will be a breeze.
So let's not make any plans for a parade before even getting halfway there. One game at a time, stay focused, keep working hard.

This won't mean nothin if we don't keep winning. I mean don't get me wrong, I love the position we're in right now. We just need to close this series out and see who we play next. We still need to take this one game at a time, even though being potential favorites is exciting.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Re: All Of A Sudden Are We Title Favorites?
we need to close out this series tonight.
If the Warriors-Grizz goes 7 (come on Grizz, hold me down for just one more win), a win over the Rockets tonight could buy CP ONE WHOLE WEEK of rest.

Maybe I'm the one knee-jerking right now, but I don't see a way where the Warriors take more than 2 games to dispatch the Grizzlies.

I have the Grizzlies in 7. Maybe it's crazy to think they take the decider at Oracle, but I really see that series going all the way, and the 3p shots might not be falling as much in a win or go home situation.

dunno, kind of having a hard time seeing how memphis can adjust. golden state should have left non-shooters free from the start of the series. tony allen isn't all of a sudden start hitting open triples and golden state will just keep leaving him open.
that's bad news for gasol and zbo.

It's hard for me to say between LAC/MEM/GSW. At this point, I'd say LAC is the favorite, but that can change as soon as the WCF begins if the Clippers let up from the basketball they've been playing thus far this postseason.

I would say the Odds means nothing especially after watching last night.
I think if anything now that Lebron has control of the East and all the times he has been
to the Finals that Cleveland has to be at the very top.
In the West it is too early to tell.
But I think it should be Memphis playing the Clippers because the 3 pointers are deadly but will
see how they go in a game 7 vs Memphis.

I've heard that claim on the radio but its not accurate. You have to be careful about announcers who talk about "Vegas". They usually don't mention a particular sports book.
We're still 3rd behind GS and Cleveland. Here are some real numbers:

Re: All Of A Sudden Are We Title Favorites?
the numbers make some sense. i don't know what they looked like with us up 3-1 and memphis up 2-1 (probably closer or maybe even us in the lead at the time).
bettors will continue to bet GS as they were best in league over season and given the way they dominated memphis (and us losing), even if we had an edge 2 days ago it would have changed.
also cleveland is looking more and more like the clear favorite to come out east and since it's west coast vs east coast, they are gonna be a more clearly defined bet.
