That was what the last 2 years were for, and we have no playoff success to show for it. Our window is closing on that "Atlantic Division is Weak" argument. The last 2 years may be this team's peak.
Atlantic division is going to remain weak for another 2 years so this Raps chance to go for it.
I'm not so certain the East will be as bad next season:
The Pacers will be better with Paul George back.
Miami should be healthy next year with Wade, Bosh, Dragic, and Whiteside.
The Celtics had a great run to end the season once they acquired Isaiah Thomas.
New York has a ton of cap space and a top pick in the draft.
Orlando was showing signs of being decent and have another top pick in the draft.
Philadelphia has Embiid and a top pick in the draft plus a ton of cap space.
Cleveland will have an entire season with their mid-season additions.
Milwaukee is young and just starting to figure it all out.
And I don't see any of the "good" teams in our Conference being worse next season either. Except us, we are losing Amir Johnson (starting PF) and possibly Lou Williams (6th man of the year).
