I hope the Heat seriously consider Devin Booker. So far only Oubre has confirmed a meeting. We might have met with Frank Kaminsky as well since he talked about Bosh... We'll see what happens today.

Not overanalyzing led to us drafting Beasley. That man continued to shrink as the draft got closer. 6'10" coming out of Kanas oh wait he's 6'9". No he's 6'8.5"... Ah who cares he put up 26pts and 12.4rebs superstar!!!

That could not be further from the truth. None of us have any power over who gets drafted. I'll wait until we keep the pick and then see who we draft. THAT'S when I'll start overanalyzing.

Beasley's problem was between the ears.

Riley knew that Beasley wasn't the smartest cookie in the cookie jar. He didn't want to draft Beas. He just has no choice. Beasley was the best talent available. We should draft a guy we're happy with from the jump not someone we think we can change.

Also as far as Beasley's size. I remember Lebatard saying when Beasley came into training camp the Heat staff all thought he was going to be a lot bigger than he ended up being. They expected a legit 6"10 they ended up getting a 6'7" with shoes off...

Beasley was breathtaking in college. He had one of the best freshman seasons of all time. His height deficiencies were there for all to see but it was like "Who cares... Superstar!" At least among the fandom. Beasley was a pressure pick. Riley liked Brook Lopez but 2 was too high to pick him.

Totally agree, and that's why I don't feel confident about Oubre, AT ALL. Not only won't we like his game off the bat (Raw, inconsistent shooter, suspect handle, not a high IQ player) - He also gave me no reason to think he's a smart hard working type kid that you can trust to figure it out. He might not figure anything out for long time.

And I'll quote my post from the locked thread about why Booker jumped into my top 3 for :

Devin Booker is moving up in my head, I really like his potential and how safe of a pick he is. He's almost guaranteed to be a quality addition with his pure shooting, BB IQ and height.

I always saw him as a JJ Reddick clone but looking at the numbers carefully, This kid can be something more. Their shooting is comparable, but Booker is already half an inch taller then JJ (6'4.5 as a 18YO, youngest player in draft, he's likely to get to 6'5 or 6'5.5), but more importantly he's exactly 5 inches longer then Reddick both in wingspan and standing reach. That's a huge difference, almost a positional gap. It can allow him to be a better finisher in paint, get shots up much easier and defend better. also he's already 15 pounds heavier as a freshman compared to the senior Reddick.

So basically if you can get a longer, stronger, better driving and defending version of Reddick - who is a good player on a contender in his own right - that's a great addition at #10, especially considering our need for shooting and knocking that 3 point shooting is at a premium in the league right now and going forward.

Should we take Pat Connaughton at #40 to keep him away from the Spurs? And maybe convince him to be a middle reliever for the Marlins?

42% from 3 this season on 6 attempts per game.

Averaged 12.5 pts, 7.4 reb, 1.5 ast (3 last year), 0.7 stl, 0.9 blk.

Most Dangerous guy for Notre Dame last year. I'd take him at 40 if we go Big our first pick.

Connaughton is a sleeper for sure. I think the reason Poppovich called him in for a workout is because he sees a potential cheap replacement for Belinelli. He seems like a Belinelli type with better defense, rebounding and athleticism.

Nothing has really changed for me since the numbers came out

Mario then Johnson, then a gamble on Oubre or trade pick. Unless somebody else unexpected drops(other than Mario/Cauley Stein), I don't think we take a blatant gamble

I def want to come out with a big though...the Tarik Black's are always available in the late 1st and 2nd. Upshaw could be a beast but red flags.

Oh no, the Harrison twins bought their mom a new BMW. How will they afford that on D-league salaries?

One more thing about Connaughton. He sounds like exactly the kind of player Riley was describing at his end-of-season press conference. A developed wing player who can shoot 3s, defend and do even more. Plus Riley has to like Connaughton's first name.

I don't think I've seen a TOP 10 mock with Porzingis outside the TOP 10 yet. Observing this, we all know the TOP 5 players to go in this draft are as follows:

KAT
Okafor
Russell
Mudiay
Winslow

We have these names usually following in most mocks to complete the TOP 10:

Porzingis
Hezonja
Cauley-Stein
Johnson

But, I've seen names like

Myles Turner
Trey Lyles
Kelly Oubre
Frank Kaminsky

in the TOP 10 as well. I feel Turner and Oubre has a strong chance of making the TOP 10 in the draft, meaning 1 (or 2) of Porzingis, WTCS, Johnson, Hezonja will be available by the 10th pick. I personally don't really want WTCS, but if Porzingis is available at 10, should Miami take him?

I was looking at what other team's fans want in the draft and most of them don't want to take the risk on Porzingis. Especially Pistons fans. He is a stretch 4 so it's a similar situation to Kaminsky. We don't need that right now. Riley might be interested in holding him as an asset. Let him play overseas while he beefs up and matures and then he'll show up probably better than Mirotic or maybe they'll trade him.

Some of the questions teams ask at the combine are ridiculous:
The Mavericks asked RJ Hunter how many basketballs would fit in this room. He said he sat there for 10 minutes trying to figure it out.

Another guy was asked "if you were a pencil and you were stuck in a blender, how would you get out?"

The Hawks asked this one, a reasonable tricky math question: "If you bought a baseball and a bat for $1.10, and the bat costs $1 more than the ball... how much does the ball cost?"
