If it's LaMarcus Aldridge or Marc Gasol it would be even less

Josh smith can't spell triangle, joke but not a joke. Josh is JR in a larger body, when he doesn't understand a play he goes off and does his own thing.

Oh yah, i completely agree. The Knicks have this history (at least recently, in the modern era) of not doing whats best for their franchise.

That and Melo's No Trade clause

Yah but the no trade clause does not mean anything.

"Hey Melo, we decided to do a rebuild with youth, which means we will not even be thinking about contention for at least 3 more seasons, with a realistic time table of 4 or 5 seasons until ECFs or Finals aspirations. By then you'll be 33 to 36, depending on reconstruction completion. Since we figure you do not want to waste the prime years of your career on a tanking team, we have discussed potential trades with teams A, E, H, Q, P, N and R. They are all potential contenders looking for that extra star, so please go over the teams and tell us which ones you'd accept going to.... oh... all of them? Good Melo, we knew you were not mentally handicap"

You're really that naive to think that Melo will waive his NTC if we were going to rebuild? Okay.

And who are these big market teams giving up youth and picks for Melo?

Dunno, im sure there are plenty out there though. Every single time we see a star player on the market we see 8 to 12 teams make offers. Its not like the Knicks traded half a team for him in the first place right?

  And thats the problem. There is literally no big market team that has the young pieces NY need to rebuild that Melo would also be willing to go to. There just 30 in NBA. It is real easy to go team by team and start crossing them out. Melo would want to go to a big market/contender but contenders hardly ever have draft picks/young studs because they probably used them up on their way to contention

Teams with legit young studs/draft picks in the current NBA
Celtics, BUcks, Minny, Denver, Utah, Philly, Orlando

No way in Hell Melo is agreeing to play on any of those teams. You pretty much left with Contenders/middle of the pack teams. Most contenders are capped out so cant take on Melo's salary. Melo might want to play on some of those teams but non of them have the combination of young players/draft picks needed for the Knicks to get legit value as well.

Knicks married to Melo for better for worse because of the NTC

Melo moved to NY because it is a big market and he thought he could capitalize on the endorsement opportunities. Unless another big market team offers a trade, he's not leaving. Melo probably has as much interest playing in a city like OKC as he does playing in Portland.

I HIGHLY doubt Melo would waive his NTC to leave a rebuilding NY team to go to a small market team. Just what I think. You're more than entitled to your own opinion, though.

Maybe Memphis doesn't offer Gasol a 5 yr max.

I'd still draft Okafor though.

We need Marc Gasol. I think we've got a good shot to get him too.

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lf8dvpt

Knicks get: James Harden & Kostas Papanikoluoa - (save $4.3Mil while swapping an older star for a young star)
Rockets get: Carmelo Anthony & Bradley Beal (move Ariza to 6th man & add even more offensive power)
Wizards get: Pablo Prigioni, Tim Hardaway Jr., Donatas Montiejunas & our 1st rd pick (top 3 pick + decent role players to help with playoff run next season)

Think we'd be at about $34M in cap space vs. $26M, factoring in the trade savings & not having to sign rookie deal of $4M.

LMA - $17M
Marc G - $17M

Jose Calderon
James Harden
Cleanthony Early
LaMarcus Aldridge
Marc Gasol

Why are Rockets trading Harden for a much older, injury prone and inferior player in Melo   !!! And the thought of Wiz trading BB (potential to be one of the best SG in the league) for trash

How is Melo injury prone? Don't get caught up in the hype, he wasn't as injured this season as people think. He just took one for the team & helped tank.
Older sure, but don't act like Melo can't still dominate. You're tripping if you're writing off Melo right now. That's some sucka ****. Plus Melo isn't the only piece the Rockets would be getting in the proposed trade. Don't act like Beal is a throw in. No trollin here homie.

Is there any way we can get Pau Gasol from the Bulls? Like would they want to clear some salary for Butler's salary bump and let us have him straight up? Maybe even offer a pick for helping them out... Would that be enough to lure his brother to sign with us?

Return to New York Knicks
