If we don't win Game 7 vs. Houston I think it will be the end of the road for this Clipper team. The Game 6 loss was extremely demoralizing and will have long-term effects.

DJ won't resign, Crawford will be gone, CP3 will earn the moniker of Choker, Doc will be forced out and it will lead to our total demise. Eventually CP3 will leave too and we'll be left with Blake and a bunch of crap.

On the other hand, if we do win Game 7 that still doesn't earn us much. We won't get much credit for barely holding onto a 3-1 lead.

We HAVE to beat GS now, or at least take them to 7 games, to gain any legitimacy.

My prediction: Clippers in a romp! I've never thought Houston was any good and they've shown it this series. They are totally outmatched but somehow keep hanging around. CP will go for 30+, and Blake might too. I think we win by 16.

What's the bookie say? Clips -2

I like it. Except I don't think we'll get Ed Davis for that cheap. I would also rather go after Alexis Ajinca with the mmle.

not a fan of bringing in one awful defensive guard to replace crawford. i think mo would ask for more than that anyway, but i wouldn't pass on it if we had no other choice.

also, i don't think ed davis signed the VM with the lakers to only take 75% of MMLE this offseason. he wants to get paid and he will definitely seek more than what we can offer.

don't know who powell or de paula are, but regardless i would prefer to keep wilcox because trading for more rookies is a death sentence for our actual playable depth. there will be a much greater chance doc will actually play wilcox next year since he won't have that "rookie" tag next to his name. if we trade for draft picks that turn into rookies, they won't be helping us next year cause doc is an asshat when it comes to rookies.

i would let udoh and turkoglu go. we just need actual contributers, not cheerleaders who provide nothing.

The only thing I see happening of the above is #8 and maybe Rivers, as we cant pay him more $3.1 mil next season.

If we are dealing Hawes and Crawford that deal makes some sense, but buying low on Stephenson makes more sense. He fills the need for another creator off the bench and finally adds perimeter defense. Not to mention its a low risk move, as we would have a to on him next season which allows us to make a run at Durant.

Boston isn't dealing those picks for Wilcox. Not a fan of Powell that early, but I like de Paula.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

kinda can't stand stephenson. but if we are just talking about pure fit/talent then moving hawes/craw for him would be kinda nice. do the hornets really go for that though?

anyway, if we do that, resign rivers via limited bird, max DJ, we would still have taxpayer's MLE, correct? if so we could "replace" hawes with amir johnson (omg real big man defense!) or brandon bass.

we'd still need an actual SF but overall i'd be on board with that. that's if i could get past lance kicking his pregnant gf in the head.

Don't know if the Hornets would want Hawes, but that would be my price to free them from Stephenson (who clearly isn't happy there) this year, while giving them some outside shooting on an expiring contract in Crawford.

I still think Hawes is a productive player, but adding Lance gives us our defender and frees up cap space next summer. I also think we need a PG and then would also need a 3rd big and another SF. Doc obviously sees his son as a PG, so he would "check" off that box and then try to split the MMLE on a SF and PF/C

a move for stephenson would be risky, but would also be one of those moves that could give this team the push it needs to get to the next level. still a scary proposition though.

i'd also be extremely leery of stephenson being able to play nice coming off the bench for jj redick.

the guy is more talented and definitely has a cocky ego and attitude. i just don't think he'd be able to contain himself. if anyone can manage him doc could but still.

Doc's GM reign should come to an end, but I don't see Steve having the balls to make that move. Steve is like Tommy Lasorda, a good motivator but not exactly your cerebral analytic mind. I think Doc himself would have to relinquish his personnel power.

hope Steve can make me wrong about this.

first order of things.

DJ needs to be extended. if we let him walk, it's not like we have any room under the cap to sign anyone even costing just a third.

yeah.

i think the order of the offseason needs to be something like

1. max dj

2. trade hawes/crawford for actual wing/big man depth (players who can defend)

3. re-sign austin rivers, davis

4. get rid of pretty much every other scrub.

5. see if we can start buying some draft picks to revitalize our "farm system"

bonuses for me:

- dump doc

- dump entire front office

- find a way to get alvin gentry or TT into our HC position. i'd be happy with JVG, also.

- find a GM out there who has a clue. i wonder if neil olshey's contract is up at this point?

Might be time to dig into the stack of Ballmer Bucks to bring in a full-fledged GM

is there a limit to the number of second rounders a team can purchase?

also how do the rules work with teams purchasing first-rounders? pretty much a non-possibility right given the state of the nba today?
