But hey we keep our pick, at least. We got something to dangle.

Also lol Knicks move down for good measure. Board must be in turmoil.

It would've been funny if Lakers got 1st pick. Phil Jackson would've been livid

I'm about to spend the next ten minutes or so on their board indulging myself in their sorrows;)

Could we send a letter signed by all the fans in Miami?

Another decade of irrelevance.

Any moment now, Riley comes up with a master plan and we exchanged picks with New York. And with the number four Miami selects Mudiay/Russell!

Every year fans delude themselves into believing that some kid who was pretty good in college is going to come in and make an impact. You say Booker will average 25 minutes? Only if Wade misses a bunch of time and we can't find a veteran backup SG. IMO Karl-Anthony Towns or Jahlil Okafor would have trouble earning 25 minutes a game next season absent injuries.

btw I also remember when James Ennis was going to storm the league and win rookie of the year and yada yada yada. Ennis ended up toting Danny Granger's jock. How is that related? Fans get carried away. Way away.

Fans do get carried away but how is assuming the pick will end up being a scrub a better alternative? Weigh your options and pick a guy you like.

As far as a "veteran backup SG" we only have the mini mle to spend. Good luck finding a quality Wade backup for $3 mill. Our top 2 targets were Gerald Green and Marco Belinelli fyi.

Even if the guy isn't a scrub, you have to assume that he will take a year or more to develop an NBA game and earn Spoelstra's trust. Hell, Whiteside was literally destroying the NBA at a position of absolute need, and he averaged 23.8 minutes a game.

I can't imagine Booker or any other rookie coming in and earning more than 20 minutes a game absent injuries ahead of him.

Ennis averaged 17mpg and TJ averaged 18.8mpg. Devin's going to fight Rio for minutes I'm perfectly fine with that. You can brush off this pick if you want. I like him.

goddammit now is not the time to be pessimistic. We are extremely fortunate to have kept our pick and are in a great position to add young talent. I feel like with the vets we have and the core in place, a young wing will develop wonderfully behind wade and deng.

I'm very excited to finally talk about prospects and not have the fear of losing our pick in mind.

I can't. I'm a worrier and a pessimist by nature. The glass is never quite 1/2 full. I'm always worried about evaporation or a leaky glass.

I could easily see Heat do one boring trade like this with one of the teams a few picks back:

Utah & Philly - Rodney Hood and Miami's future pick from Philly returned to Miami, 12th pick to Philly, 10th pick to Utah
Phoenix & Philly - Resigned Gerald Green and Miami's future pick from Philly returned to Miami, 13th pick to Philly, 10th pick to Phoenix
OKC & Philly - Jeremy Lamb or Anthony Morrow and Miami's future pick from Philly returned to Miami, 14th pick to Philly, 10th pick to OKC
Atlanta & Philly - Resigned Demarre Carroll and Miami's future pick from Philly returned to Miami, 15th pick to Philly, 10th pick to Atlanta
Milwaukee & Philly - Jared Dudley and Miami's future pick from Philly returned to Miami, 17th pick to Philly, 10th pick to Milwaukee

Basic concept is to relinquish our pick owing to Philly (forcing them to decide if our pick next year is likely to be lower), pick up a 2/3 of decent talent, and the team that gives us that 2/3 gets to move up a few spots in the draft.

I don't necessarily like it, but I could see it happening.

We trade our pick this year just to get it back next year?
I'm cool with that, contrary to what many posters here say, we're at best a 45 win team next year. While the East will be vastly better next year, so I'm cool with getting back our pick so we won't have to give up another pick til 2017 or 2018
