If you really thing Russell is a cant miss star then yes, you do take him over Okafor (or Towns) but he's not without his questions. I agree with the above, its harder to get big men in general (even if their value is deflated) and the Lakers are one of the few teams where obtaining a high level FA is a reasonable plan/expectation and you can find some wing player down the road.

While I realize one shouldn't use this type of comparison literally or as a marker for future play, it is quite intriguing that freshmen D'Angelo Russell played better his freshmen year in college than all the other top PGs/SGs we have in today's NBA did when in their first year of college.

I believe Mitch will still evaluate to the fullest of what player will fit in with us the most.

I'm confident though that Jahlil or Karl Anthony will be the most superior out of All of the lottery picks who'll be in El Segundo these upcoming weeks working out at the Lakers facility.

Some Laker fans are already saying trade the pick and get a superstar lol.

Wiggins and Lavine is a nice young tandem that can develop into something special imp. An then you add either Jahlil or Towns to that roster not bad at all.

Seriously the onl players I'd consider trading our pick for is Kevin Durant, Westbrook, Lebron or Anthony Davis.

It's just ridiculous when you think about the trade itself. Love is literally responsible for Minny having three straight first draft picks.

Using the same logic, if this pick eventually gives us a superstar, trading for Nash and him being injured will be responsible for giving us our (possible) franchise players in Randle and whoever we pick, coz we don't get to be this bad any other way.

wolves will make choosing easier. we just pick whomever they dont. the 2 spot is the most ideal and we got it. cant go wron with either towns or okafor.

Really hope for Oakfor. Or should we trade 2nd pick for cousins?

Lot of salty kids on the GB and Philly board, ehh.....F'em. Guys are already talking about who fits better with who, so what if Okafor and Randle aren't you're classic ideal fit. You have to amass the best players period, and the game is played in a non conventional way anyway now.

For me forget all this talk about a guard...you have to ALWAYS grab a big if he can play, and it's obvious that Towns and Okafor can play. Both have their strengths and weakness, Towns is defensively ready and Okafor is offensively ready.

But it pisses me off that today's crop of guys that watch ball think that for one you can build the perfect team and second that guys are what they are as young players.

Hell even Duncan had holes in his game coming out of college, and he wasn't the defender he later developed to be. David Robinson anchored a lot of the defensive load in the early days of Duncan's career. Tim was also a horrid FT shooter early in his career...but he got better.

So bottom line is guys need to stop beating down Towns and Okafor, neither are your finished product and they both have a long way to being the players they'll end up being. I'm good with either of who we draft.

The pressure is on Minnesota, they have the first pick. This much is clear though, if they take a big then Peckovic is on the move. In fact a lot of players will be moved because of this very draft class.

Passing up Russell is going to be tough. If you think he can be a 40 percent 3-point shooter, with his vision, that's a pretty damn special player, especially in today's NBA.
