Could we get Draymond Green NEXT off-season?

Post#1 » by blueadams » Wed May 20, 2015 4:27 am

No chance he gets out of GS this off-season. But what if we offered him a max one-year deal first minute of free agency and forced GS to match THAT offer? If his interest in coming back to Michigan is genuine, I'd say we almost HAVE to wait a season and do it. He's really become my favorite NBA player to watch this post-season. Guards all five positions -- and all five really well. Great help-side defender at all times. Jumps passing lanes. Switches and double-teams impeccably. 100% effort at all times. One of the best bball IQ guys I've ever seen. An amazing passer. Shoots well from outside. Cleans up on the offensive glass. Works in the low-post. The mid-range. Cuts to the bucket and finishes. Good FT shooter. Tough, gritty. Cheap and dirty -- but rarely called. And just so smart on the offensive side of the ball. A possession almost never wasted when the ball goes through him.

Just a perfect, perfect modern-day NBA stretch 4. Put him next to Dre. Hope Jackson works out. Find some wing shooters to go along with KCP -- perhaps #8, Middleton, Danny Green, etc. Fill out that bench with guys who can do work like GS has.

Let me just say, the Warriors offense with Steph running the floor will make a lot of players play better than they normally would. In the Pistons offense, so many players have played considerably worst and end up getting over paid. I sense the same will happen to Green if he comes to the Pistons.

Dude's not leaving the Bay, they love each other.

Edit: Also, he's leading the POs in +/-

Would love to get him more now than ever,he really has been a beast during these playoff. Befor the season ended for us,I had moose and green about neck and neck, but now I can comfortable say, green is the better player and can see him becoming better with more time. The only thing that I dont like about green,is ,he can be a bone head at times when games are to close,he does remind me of sheed in those aspects.

He's going to get max offers and GS will match (or sign him outright beforehand). He'd also be nuts not to take a max, long-term deal. He's riding a huge high right now and just needs to cash in. He's a really good player, but he's several steps below the big stars in the NBA. If he has a chance to get paid like them, he shouldn't pass that up.

He's just coming off his rookie deal and he's played really well for GS. He's going to get his max long term and it ain't going to be by us. GS will match every cent and then some if they have to.

People still think Green is a viable option for us?

The Warriors are headed to the NBA Finals after only losing 2 games in the first two rounds

There is NO SITUATION ON PLANET EARTH that will allow Draymond Green to come to the Pistons, not this year or next year or ever

There's an extreme lack of security with that idea and he would be coming to a far worse situation.. doesn't make much sense at all to me.

You can't offer him a 1 year deal.

http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q44

When a restricted free agent wants to sign with another team, the player and team sign an offer sheet, the principal terms of which the original team is given three days to match.4 The offer sheet must be for at least two seasons (not including option years). If the player's prior team also submitted a maximum qualifying offer, then the offer sheet must be for at least three seasons (not including option years). If the player's original team exercises its right of first refusal within three days, the player is then under contract to his original team, at the principal terms of the offer sheet (but not the non-principal terms). If the player's original team does not exercise its right of first refusal within three days (or provides written notice that it is declining its right of first refusal), the offer sheet becomes an official contract with the new team.
