Re: The Magic are picking 5th. Who you got? (First pass)
I said Porznigis earlier. I may hold off on that until he works out for us and some reaction comes from that. If he is ready to contribute and he is a shot blocker/shooter they say I'd take him. But I shall withhold judgement. Otherwise I might like the trade back scenario. Especially if Russell or Mudiay slip to 5, there will be value in a trade.
Maybe trade back to 8,9,10,11 range. Grab a player off said team. Then you are in Kaminsky, Myles Turner range. And hell Porzingis could drop to there. I personally would really like to grab Trey Lyles. I think he is being massively underrated and fits with our team rather well. 6'10 4 man who can block shots and shoot. Seems to be versatile defensively. I think he held back a bit at Kentucky. If he stayed he would have been top 8 pick next year easily.
Personally I'd trade back with Utah at 12. Grab Trey Burke (gotta be looking to unload him to give Exum the reins). I think he would be a really solid back up PG. Then grab Lyles at 12. All the Mocks have him going no earlier then 15th.
Vuc/Deadman
Lyles/AG/Frye
Harris/AG
Vic/Fournier
Elf/Burke
Not to shabby. And maybe grab a pure shooter in the 2nd round. Frazier/Cougnntaun*

The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

The guy has only one year(where injuries were the main culprit) and you are going to call him a mistake?

I voted Hezonja. I think he's something special. Even if his arrival means we need to reshape the roster a little bit. Although I'll get along with any choice Henny makes. As for AG I'd suggest waiting 2 more seasons before we call him our GM's mistake.

Kristaps Porzingis. He can shoot and play good D. He does need to bulk up but I think he is the best choice and fits a major hole at the 4. I don't think Gordon will ever be what we need at the 4 and instead makes more sense at the three spot. People are sleeping on this guy because he is a foreigner and Magic fans are still pissed at Fran Vasquez( I am too). But you can't just pit him in that boat and say he would jilt us like Fran did. Fran didn't come over but that isn't what happens for every euro prospect. Most come over. Sure he could decide to stay and if so then don't take him. But he is in the draft and I haven't seen anything indicating that he wouldn't come over.

Scouts and GMs do not use youtube. They are overseas watching these guys play and they do their homework so it very well might make sense to take a foreigner over a guy like Winslow. There is risk in taking Winslow too. American players end up being busts as well. Winslow is no sure thing. I like Winslow and I think he will be a good pro but for me I take Porzingis over Winslow.

After a lot of deliberation, my choice for the Magic is Willie "Trill" Cauley-Stein!
Let's see if he covers the bases for what Henny looks for:
Top Tier Defender - check
Highly Athletic - check
High BBIQ - check
Team Player - check
Hustles on the court - check
Hard Worker off the court - check
College Upperclassman - check
Has shown an improvement trend - check
Plays above the rim - check
Let's see if his weaknesses are ones that Henny has forgiven in the past:
Needs to improve offensive game - yep! Henny don't mind
All things considered I would draft WCS if I were in Henny's shoes. WCS is a safe player. You know what you will get. WCS will add a nasty streak to a team that needs more of it. WCS fits!
We are 1 of 2 teams in the entire NBA that has 3 players that averaged over 17 ppg. The Bulls (Rose, Butler, Gasol) and us (Oladipo, Harris, Vucevic). What this team needs more than any other thing is a defensive force like WCS. Dedmon is not that player. Dedmon is a post defender only. WCS can defend 1-5. Trump.
Our shooting will suck if we take WCS? First off, Henny and I (yes, we're a team lol) aren't banking on Payton and Dipo struggling with their 3 ball forever. Two, we're re-signing Harris. Three, Gordon is gonna open eyes. ...and Four, RELEASE THE FRYE!!!! Oh and one more thing... our ability to attack inside will open up better shots outside.
WCS isn't the perfect player, but at the 5th pick, we can't be greedy. Draft him and laugh it up all the way to the bank!
Come again... what? I agree with all those words 100%, but, WHAT? No Porzingis for you, Skin?

I dont know if he will be the pick, really depends what the plan is with tobias and gordon, but from a skills/athleticism stand point, he matches up perfectly with what hennigan looks for
how is Winslow any different than Dipo? they are about the same size too

Trill's defensive potential could be a real game changer the way Gobert was for Utah. and after an elite superstar scorer, i think an elite defensive presence is atop the list of priorities in ranking BPA for me.
I don't think a guy who changed his middle name to "trill" aligns with what the Magic look for in high character individuals. Plus at 5 that would be a slight reach, would want us to trade down if they really want to get "trill".
how does changing your name = bad character? has he been in trouble with the law? associated with bad people? ive seen nothing that says bad character from him

Well WE aren't the ones making the pick and while we may not know anything about overseas prospects other than Youtube videos the professional scouts and front office of the Orlando Magic know much more than we do about them so I trust them with the decision making.
My preference in who we draft has been pretty fluid just like everyone else's I suppose. I'm still really interested in Turner and Porzingas but I may be coming around to WCS even though he's one dimensional and adds yet another non offensive threat to the team. I could see Henny making that pick if the others don't project to make an immediate impact which I think WCS will, but should trade down in doing so imo.
I think Winslow is a better prospect than Johnson but I don't see why we make that move as currently constructed unless roster changes are made. I've come around to Porzingas but all overseas prospects worry me including Henzonja.
I'm going with Turner. I think he is the two way player we need with a chance to become a stretch 4 who can also defend the paint which is a rare player to find. Everything I've read indicates that his running issues are correctable so unless otherwise indicated I'm not worried about that and will allow the FO and medical staff to hash that out. I don't know if he has the immediate impact potential that WCS but I think he could contribute to this team immediately in certain areas. Also, he trumps WCS in long term potential imo.

Right now I'm leaning towards Winslow, though I find some of the international prospects intriguing. Not sure why, but not as high on Cauley-Stein as some others.

Re: The Magic are picking 5th. Who you got? (First pass)
Im all for WCS and I would not trade down as I don't think he will slide no more than 6. Logically he is perfect for Kings roster, but knowing their FO, particularly when it comes to drafting, anything is possible.
Understimated bonus people not considering in drafting WCS is that potentially it makes Vučević available for a trade for offensive minded SF or PF.
If we could package the pick for Ibaka, I'd be thrilled as much as next guy, but it is not realistic.

I would see how Portis does in workouts. Short of Towns, there is no one that blows me away. Portis seems to have skill and similar to Payton, sliding a little under the radar. Find someone to slide back in the 10-12 range, and pick up either another pick or a backup PG, something the team needs, grab Portis and the team already starts to look better.

Can we still trade Tobias Harris? Just curious, because he's restricted. I guess we always S&T him but generally you don't get a ton back in those deals.
This draft would make a ton more sense if we had already traded Tobias.

Yeah I don't have an issue with that either. Either way I think we could use a player with a little bit of an edge.
