Don't think salaries work to offer Gasol the max if we already trade for Durant. Should be sign Marc, then summon enough deadweight salaries to package with picks to get another star.

this draft deep enough to warrant that kind of move for OKC? Towns goes 1 who would they take with the 2nd pick?

Kanter, Adams, Ibaka, Collison upfront i guess i could see Jah and adding the depth to the position but does a true post presense like that kill space for Russ?

nobody in this draft is capable of sliding into KD's spot and replacing him.

Manny and D-Lo seems clashy with Westbrook. D-Lo might work with his off the ball game but i dunno as a whole with those two.

The Knicks board is seriously hilarious right now. So doom and gloom over there...lmao. They're even blaming Phil Jackson for their misfortunes.

Poll? Like on RGM? I was talking about the organization, not us lol.

Oh well, nvm then. I can't even remember us working out Smart, I heard a whole lot more about Randle from what I remember.

you heard a lot about randle because randle was expected to fall to us...remember was projected as the #3 pick behind wiggins and parker for a majority of the mock drafts, atleast up until mid season...only when draft talks and march madness started heating up, did the likes of exum, smart, and gordon start heating up a lot more....the lakers didn't work out smart, but he was on their radar over randle. Randle was the most nba ready player and best available option so they took him over noah vonleh (another guy on their radar). If smart and randle BOTH were available at 7, the lakers would have taken smart, and wouldn't have worked out jordan clarkson.

Would not trade the 2nd pick for anybody tbh. If there is offers for the 27th and 34th pick I'd be willing to look at the offers.

You only do it if you get a guarantee that they are going to resign with you which is very unlikely with FAs looking to be courted in the offseason. The last thing i'd do is trade our pick for a one year rental. AT least it would be somewhat understandable if we already had a star here since we'd be a contender, but without one you'd just have Durant on a one year deal. The last thing i'd want is restart from scratch again. It's much safer to just let your youth grow and try and entice these guys through Free Agency with our cap space. Remember we'll have another max space once kobe is gone. At least we can point at our young talent as either a future trade asset or just an actual asset to play with and entice them to come while not risking losing anything to get said free agent.

I don't know man... I got Durant pegged as a superstar who values going to a huge market with max salary implications as much, if not more, as teaming up elsewhere for winning for less as a FA.

The only rumors i've heard is him going to DC, not LA, NY, or Chicago. Not to mention that team would be an instant championship contender with him on it. I just wouldn't make that gamble.

Does anyone know , if we keep the picks, who we'd be targeting with the 27th and 34th picks?

Slightly, unathletic as well :/

This one can actually shoot though, and a lot younger, so I think it'll work out.

Don't know why there's so much love for athletic PGs. Outside From Westbrook and Wall, all the best PGs are unimpressive athletically.

Athleticism is helpful as a point guard as it is easier to penetrate, but there are far more important skills. D'Angelo has size, can shoot, handle and pass. High IQ player, and not necessarily unathletic. I easily prefer him over Mudiay, who can't shoot and has overrated athleticism.

I'm a little concerned about Durant's future health. I think the only way we could get him for picks would be if OKC figured he was going to be gimpy for the rest of his career.

I'd trade for Durant if healthy, but right now, I might wait and see what happens when he becomes a FA.

Yeah, no. None of that is true.

[tweet]https://twitter.com/KevinDing/status/478968347468374016[/tweet]

Randle declined the opportunity to work out a second time for the Boston Celtics on the eve of the draft. It's safe to assume his hope of slipping to the Lakers, picking one spot behind the Celtics, was part of his thought process. Guard Marcus Smart, who worked out twice for the Celtics, wound up Boston's choice—much to the Lakers' relief.

Randle said the Lakers had him ranked higher on their draft board than No. 7, but they told his representatives at the beginning of the night that Randle would be a "perfect fit" if he was still available when it was their turn to pick.

http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/story/_/id/11141117/nba-draft-2014-los-angeles-lakers-take-julius-randle-no-7-pick

Randle's their man

Old rivalries don't die. They just bleed into the draft when two teams are sagging.

Lakers executives were on edge in their draft room while the Boston Celtics pondered the sixth overall pick Thursday.

When it was revealed to be Oklahoma State guard Marcus Smart, the Lakers' brass burst out in excitement, smiles all around.

It allowed them to take power forward Randle with their highest selection on draft night in 32 years.

The Lakers were worried Boston would nab Randle, a double-double machine in one year at Kentucky.

Thanks, Celtics?

This is insane. If I'm OKC, I'm not trading Durant under any circumstances, let alone for draft picks. I'm going down to the wire to keep an all-time talent, and if he walks, he walks.
