Incredible that based on where we are now, someone decides Billy Knight deserves credit now...

Without him, we draft CP3, never make it to the ECF's. Just saying.

Terrible logic. Especially in the diluted EAST.
CP3, under Budenholzer, would be dominant.

Billy Knight is also the guy who drafted Al Horford, Boris Diaw and Josh Smith. Bypassed drafting Luol Deng/Andre Iguadala in favor of Josh Childress. Traded Diaw and picks for Joe Johnson. And orchestrated the roster that saw us finally return to the playoffs after missing out for 7 straight years.
His tenure here was riddled with mistakes and he is not highly regarded in league circles. Though many of the players he acquired/drafted have done well in the league.

Sarcasm, but well warranted in these circumstances. This is the last time to be giving props to this guy (not that there is ever a time).

His problem was passing on CP3 and drafting Shellhead. It killed him more than any other pick.

I remember watching the '06 draft and kept yelling out "anyone but Childress" and I felt the same this past year with Adrien Payne.
We are still questionable with out draft picks, but at least we've kept a couple of what DF has decided upon. Its not like DF has missed badly on someone he could have had.

Honestly, looking back, I thought Marvin was going to be a perennial All Star, and make a few All NBA teams. The only picks I didn't like at the time of Knight's tenure was Sheldon and Childress.
I really wanted Iggy over Childress, and even wanted to trade down with Utah maybe and take Kevin Martin and Jameer Nelson.
Then with Shelden, I was thinking take the BPA with Roy, Foye, Gay, or Reddick. Joe was being taxed and we needed another guy on the wing. It seemed like a good time trade Chills, bring Marvin off the bench, and Josh was destined to be a tweener, and probably better suited as a PF.
Meh, Knight was okay, but I think he was just throwing darts at a board when it came to drafting. He could have really made a name for himself, with obvious hindsight picks, but he could have still been respectable with better choices.

I remember reading Shelden was the only guy all the (feuding) owners could agree on, and since any draft selection needed all their consent, he was the guy they went with.
