Don t want Wes because he doesn't defend truly, can't score, and has no perimeter skill. He's only an option if KOBE STARTS AT SF as a vet min backup. I'd give Andre Miller the vet min to back up Dragic at pg and let Nick play behind Clarkson at sg

It's imperative that we dump his ass, and sign a long term player in his place. Why? The cap is skyrocketing next off season, so it's important to lock up quality players this off season, come next year, their contracts will be a bargain.

I believe that its a no brainer to let him go just because picking up his option will restrict us from offering any max deals.

I've been out of the loop for a while so can you breakdown the numbers. how much do we have this season and next season. I was under the impression that we do have room to offer a max deal this season and possibly 2 max deals the season after due to Kobe's expiring and raise in the cap. we do need depth in the bench.

I linked an article in thos thread or maybe a different thread. I believe around 22m in cap space if we dont pick up his option, and around 13 if we do, so not enough for the max if he is picked up.

27mill before the rookie contract comes in but that's based on a 63mill cap, its projected to jump to 67mill now. Below is #'s based on us not picking up any options.

Los Angeles Lakers: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1317393
Current Cap Space: None. $7,309,042.00 over
Maximum Cap Space: None. $7,309,042.00 over
Luxury Tax Space: $6,009,317.00
Tax Apron Space: $10,009,317.00
2015-2016 Maximum Cap Space: $27,223,597.00

Thanks for this info. I assume, aside from Hill, Clarkson, Black, Brown and Sacre's options are also still not counted in the 27-31m (with the cap increase)? So with the 2nd pick cap hold, that would be around 25-26m for the 2 first rounders. The 4 players will cost us around another 2-4m in space when we pick up their options?

why arent anybody mentioning lin and nash's expiring? are those already factored in the ~27M? so is that the total we have including letting Hill walk?

Hill was disappointing last year. that was his opportunity and he blew it. or rather, there what he showed just wasnt enough. we needed the Hill before he fell in love with his jumpshot. id rather spend on Ed at this point.

Did you take the roster holds into account?

Remember when Jordan Hill was the beloved energy guy that came off the bench and grabbed rebounds and got put backs like a crazy person? Didn't he start playing because Bynum threw a tantrum during the MWP elbow game? That seems like it was so long ago

Yeah these numbers haven't taken into account rookie capholds and exceptions for being under the 12 player minimum.
Roughly these are the numbers we have for next year:
Kobe-25 m
Randle-3.1m
Clarkson-845,000
Young(ugh)-5.2 m WHY??
Kelly-1.7 m
2nd pick caphold-3.7 m
27th pick caphold-900,000
Roster Exceptions: 1 m

Total=41.4
Total cap space=25.6 m

So the numbers are in the same space. It would be great if we could get rid of Young and Kelly and clear off 6 million more in space.

Yeah. Typical energy guy who got his money and lost all motivation.

and developed an outside shot, which was the worst thing he could have done. I see our big shooting outside shots and watching the rebound .....

Trade him or let him walk. We can get future picks for him. I'll take 2 second round picks for him
