If the Lakers feel like they have Love in the bag.. its really hard to see them drafting another big with Julius Randle also there already.

Who would you rather have? Randle or Okafor?

easily OK4, but an OK4 and Love or a OK4 and Randle pairing is really not ideal either way in my eyes.

Okafor and Love looks a lot better than Love and Randle. Okafor is 6'11'' 270 who is a beast inside. Love and his perimeter shooting would compliment Okafor greatly.

They can easily trade Randle.

Wow, just wow. Absolutely terrible.

As previously mentioned, #4 isn't available if I'm GM. But if I had to swing a deal, it'd be for two firsts. #8 and #18 or something like that. Not #6 and two role players.

Part 2 of that horrible trade: What exactly is Milwaukee getting?

EDIT: Wow, you made that other post I was cracking up at too about going after JOSH ****** SMITH.

Just trying to factor in the FO's likely tendency to go for established players rather than stockpiling picks. So **** off.

Lol you're defnitely Isiah.

Stockpiling picks, believe it or not, is how you make a franchise a contender instead of a consistent 2nd round exit every year, ESPECIALLY in the NBA.

Speaking of free agency, I was curious about something. I know it stemmed from a single tweet but was it ever established whom in the Knicks organization wanted Whiteside?

http://theknicksblog.com/knicks/report- ... t-combine/

Report: Knicks interviewed Kevon Looney at NBA Draft Combine

"It’s one thing for a team to explore all options, but it’s nevertheless a little surprising to see Looney’s name associated with the Knicks. He hasn’t really been heralded as a top five pick at all.
Nevertheless, perhaps he’s someone New York would consider if they end up trading down in the draft as part of a larger deal."

this could be nothing.
Or they could be prepping for a deal. This guy is Lamar Odom 2.0

4th pick for Bucks Middleton S&T(involving calderon) and #17/////

Schved(space)/vet min vet/Gallo
Middleton(14)/Gallo/Schved
Melo/vet.min/Looney(1.4)
LMA(max)/Melo/Looney
Vet Min.

I'm not sure how the S&t would work---help a realgmer out
depending on the S&T structure we may also ask for Henson or ask for him in a second trade for a TPE if there is enough cap space. I just couldn't come up with a S&T scenarion

Just so I understand, can you identify the NBA's consistent contenders that last several years?

Warriors, Thunder, Spurs?

The rest is LeBron bro.

I am the biggest advocate for draft picks. Wish we had Hinkie. You either need LeBron or lucky and incredible draft picks to win in this dominant league.

Okay? You build through the draft, it's step 1 in building a contender. We have sucked for the past 15 years for this reason.

Go have a beer with Isiah.

Listen, the Golden State Warriors could very well become a powerhouse, but you can't define contending as consistently making it out of the second round in one sentence and ID a team who has made it out of the second round once (this year) as an example of who you're talking about.

Undermines whatever else you have to say.

Bogut got hurt last year if you didn't remember. Warriors had it to come out of the West. He is their anchor and it ruined them. . Curry had busted ankles up until last year too.

This team has been a contender for atlas the past year, they just needed to develop.

So I can't say you have to build through the draft because the Warriors didn't win it all coming right out of the gate through all those injuries? Right bro. If the Warriors didn't have those 4 first round picks (Steph, Klay, Dray, Barnes) they'd be nothing.

Knicks are stuck here having to sign a prize of Greg Monroe now. You're right though, build through FA. Really works.

You need 6 key guys to have a contender. Unless it's LeBron, atleast 3 have to be legit guys you drafted. Knicks won't have that again until 2018. Thanks again Isiah, Grunwald, Walsh. Such a joke.

Actually, we're going to draft one guy this year and use our money to sign guys like Monroe and be #4 seed and non contender for forever.

It seems like only football heads have a 100% clear understanding of how big a draft pick is to your franchise. Young, low salary, brings spark, gets fans excited, have his rights etc.

Someone ge tit through knicks FO. I'm still trusting Phil for the time being.

My absolute best case scenario...(not some dream or fantasy like LeBron coming or getting 2 Max's to actually agree, but can actually see happening)...

Draft D'Angelo Russell
Sign Marc Gasol + Danny Green
Trade Jose Calderon, Tim Hardaway Jr and a 2018 Lottery protected 1st to the Bulls for Taj Gibson
Re-sign Bargnani, Shved, Cole and Amundson
Bring up Antetokounmpo from the D-League
And see what we got...

Alexey Shved / Langston Galloway
Danny Green / D'Angelo Russell
Carmelo Anthony / Cleanthony Early / Thanasis Antetokounmpo
Taj Gibson / Andre Bargnani
Marc Gasol / Cole Aldrich / Lou Amundson

What I can see happening if we can't get one of the Max guys and maybe even no chance at Russell (with Philly taking him at #3)...

Draft Emmanuel Mudiay
Sign Roy Hibbert (could also be substituted with Greg Monroe depending on Phil's preference), Danny Green and Mo Williams
Trade Jose Calderon, Tim Hardaway Jr. and a 2018 Lottery Protected 1st to the Bulls for Taj Gibson
Re-Sign Bargnani, Cole and Amundson

Emmanuel Mudiay / Langston Galloway
Danny Green / Mo Williams
Carmelo Anthony / Cleanthony Early / Thanasis Antetokounmpo
Taj Gibson / Andrea Bargnani
Roy Hibbert (or Greg Monroe) / Cole Aldrich / Lou Amundson

Best case team if we trade down with the #4

Draft night deal between the Knicks and the Nuggets...#4 and Jose Calderon for Ty Lawson, #7 and their 2016 1st Round Pick (with rights to swap with Toronto to control our own picks destiny).
Draft Justise Winslow
Sign Greg Monroe (or Hibbert)
Trade Tim Hardaway Jr and a TPE to the Bulls for Taj Gibson (keeping our 2018 Lottery protected 1st)
Re-sign Shved, Bargs, Cole and Lou

Ty Lawson / Langston Galloway
Justise Winslow / Alexey Shved
Carmelo Anthony / Cleanthony Early / Thanasis Antetokounmpo
Taj Gibson / Andrea Bargnani
Greg Monroe (or Roy Hibbert) / Cole Aldrich / Lou Amundson

I wouldn't be upset with any of these scenario. On another note If the Lakers really feel that they could land Love than I can really see them either picking a point guard like Mudiiay/ Russell or grabbing Okafor and trading down (best case). So it's very possible we'd end up with Okafor. I believe Philly is really settled on Russell for they are in heat for a PG. So if we could get Taj for THJ and a TPE, and pick up Green I'd be one happy cat

Galo
Green or Carroll
Melo
Taj
Lopez/Okafor

We'd still have money left over for a max or I'd prefer we strengthen our bench.

I really don't see us getting a max and feel that we really don't have to have one, but I wouldn't be mad if we got Harris

Mudiay/Galo
Carroll/Shved
Harris/Early
Melo/Barg
Lopez

that would be a strong defensive squad

or even better with GS not having deep pockets we could make a possible steal for Green

Mudiay/Galo
Carroll/Shved
Melo/Early
Green/Vet
Lopez/Vet

Man I'm getting excited again, for this off-season, if our cards are played right, can be the one summer that actually turns this team around. I strongly feel that we need to keep our pick unless we trade back up to 2 to get Okafor (not recommended, but would not be upset)

I have no problem building through the draft. The funny part is you thinking Hinkie is some visionary.

He's just a tool of his management. They want cheap young talent and have apparently given him a decade to show results. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to lose games and pick high.

Tristan has always been so underrated. He was productive on the court whenever I watched him these past years, especially last year when they sucked. He got a lot better on defense. Not sure how much he'd get but man he'd be such a steal if he stays motivated like he is now. I just don't think he's that type of dude

Oh gotcha. Well Hinkie is my GM comparison. He's who I'd be if I was GM lol. I don't like how he drafted Embiid/Noel next to each other though. Doesn't fit.

Return to New York Knicks
