Re: Warriors Cavs
I do think the Warriors are a bit overrated. They have not been tested in the playoffs yet. Pelicans/Grizzlies/Rockets. Seemed like they dodged all the tough teams and got a free pass to the finals. The Cavs are beaten up and bruised after the dog fight they had with Chicago, but it has made them into battle-tested machines ready to throw down!

Cavs have bigtime momentum, ESPECIALLY with the Warriors just having lost to the Rockets.

Dodged all the tough teams? Grizzlies and Rockets are both very good teams and better than the teams the Cavs played so far. I still think the Cavs can beat the Warriors but Kyrie needs to be in all star form

Re: Warriors Cavs
Let me preface this comment with the fact that I really don't expect the Cavs to win against the Warriors. That said, I don't get why people are acting like we'll get steamrolled. During the season the teams split (It's only during the season, but it's all we've got). Cavs expect the Warriors to shut down LeBron eventhough he scored 42 the only time that he played them this year. Cavs expect Kyrie to be dominated by Curry eventhough they've been pretty even (Kyrie outscored curry in game where they both shot poorly and the other they scored the same. The game the Cavs lost, LeBron didn't play. Sure, we may not win, but damnit, they're gonna remember the days that they played the Cavaliers.

The Bulls were a lot tougher than the Pelicans and were arguably tougher than Rockets (whom warriors haven't even finished off yet if at all) and the Grizzlies. There were plenty of tough teams in the west...Warriors just didn't have to play them.

Re: Warriors Cavs
Grizzlies are a real tough team, just a shame they were injured.
The east and west were both weak this year. Warriors are a great team its gonna take a lot of things to go right to beat them while they have some things going wrong.

The Bulls are a dysfunctional team, and it showed against the Cavs.. Offensively they are just horrible. The Grizzlies gave a good fight against the warriors.. the thing is Golden state just looked so good, while the impression is that the Cavs most of all dominated cos the opponents were so terrible. I mean, the Cavs are a true team, and props to Delly Tristan and all those guys.. but there is no way you win with them against a proper contender..

LeBron James is capable of beating any team on the planet in a best of 7 series. You'll be reminded of that soon enough.

The narrative that the warriors had a tough run to the finals is nonsense. Griz are a really good team but injuries struck. Rockets and Pelicans are not great. There really werent any other contenders besides the cavs and warriors.
Now this doesn't mean the warriors dont look like a superior team, because they do but their path wasn't tough.

Nobody can win by himself. It will depend al lot more on the other guys, as always at this stage in the playoffs... like yesterday the Warriors won with great performances of Ezeli and Barnes, and the Cavs won important games with great performances of Delly and Tristan. That's how it works, despite the media narrative.
In general I think the warriors are far superior. More talented, a lot deeper, play better team basketball. It is a final though.. anything can happen. I think the experience of Lebron and some other guys on the team like Jones could be a factor as well.

You do know the Ws have faced every single person on the All NBA 1st team.
That MEM and HOU both had better records facing a tougher division while a if you swung over CHI record to the West it would have been only good for a 7th seed
That CLE was 18-12 vs Western Conference while GS 25-5 vs the Eastern Conference
Im not here to start a flame battle between the teams but I think you arent giving enough credit to who GS played.

The Rocks got sent home. GSW is 12-3 in the playoffs.....and that's WEST where .500 don't get you in it. GSW is DEEP and very good on D. Don't kid yourself.. they had momentum from day one. the Cavs only got rolling midseason (no more Waiters) Obviously.. they gott shooters but they ALSO rebound, defend,Pass. They use a 10+ man rotation. With LeBron... the Cavs obviously are potent. Love out... might be a blessing ..his D would have been a weak link. GSW would have exploited that.
This finals will be special....Both franchises had hard times and now are the best.

Re: Warriors Cavs
Yeah... the Warriors won over 80% during the season. They went 12-3 in the playoffs. They only lost 3 home games all year...playoffs included (and have home advantage) LeBron... makes almost anything possible. The Cavs will need everything LeBron can do.mos_def wrote:MattDellavedova wrote:I do think the Warriors are a bit overrated. They have not been tested in the playoffs yet. Pelicans/Grizzlies/Rockets. This Warriors team... does not have weak spots. My view is that LeBron really shaped up a team that was not playing as a team.. but.. that projeect takes time. The Cavs figure to be better..moore consistant and efficient NEXT YEAR. Now? They got LeBron. LeBron and some luck MIGHT work. I expect GSW wins the series but may need 7 games. GSW can win just by winning 54 home games. Do the Cavs have the DEFENSE to contain GSW... a team that scores a lot? Can they beat GSW at the Oracle where GSW wins about 90% ? Time will tell.

Re: Warriors Cavs
I worry for the Warriors. I had a similar worry for the Hawks, for some of the same reasons. I mean, once the Final Four was set to Cleveland, Atlanta, Golden State and Houston... well, LeBron won the championship at that moment because there was no one left in the playoffs that could even begin to know how to stop him - or even stay with him mentally, i.e. having the same edge. Every team left except Team LeBron (no offense to CLE) has zero Finals experience. Hell, they didn't even have Conference Finals experience! I think Golden State is going to be overwhelmed by the magnitude of the event and the relentlessness of LeBron. Like all young teams do, they're going to mosey on into the Finals thinking this is all so easy and that the dream season will keep propelling itself on its own. But they will be taught, first hand, the type of effort and dedication and seriousness it really takes to defeat a determined, still-young living legend and take his championship.

Re: Warriors Cavs
I still laugh when people type the Cavs record and include Oct/Nov/Dec like those months really matter. Talking about the Cavs any time before January is basically just being done to try to make yourself feel better. COMPLETELY different team.
