A player like Ray Allen will do wonders for us.

Free agent Danny Green fits Heat

Danny Green presents an interesting and challenging free agency possibility for the Heat.

There is no question Miami would love to have him given that he is one of the top long-ranger shooters in the NBA and would be a more than capable fill-in when Dwyane Wade is out. The Heat probably could figure out a way to pay him, too, even as he figures to get about double the $4 million salary he made last season.

But would Green be willing to leave a starting job in San Antonio for no guarantees in Miami? Depends on what kind of pitch Pat Riley can put together.

While he was a starter, Green played 2,312 minutes last season, a shade lower than Mario Chalmers. If the Heat can move Chalmers, they would clearly have the money and the minutes for Green.

Green is almost 28 years old and would be in position to gradually move into the starting lineup as Wade steps back. He averaged 11.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game last year while shooting 43.6 percent.

Green hit 41.8 percent of his 3-pointers, which was far better than any Heat player last season. Over the past three years, the only Miami shooters to reach that number were Shane Battier and Ray Allen in 2012-13.

When Green was asked earlier this month about the decision he must make this summer, he told the San Antonio Express-News, “Hopefully, I’ll be back. I love San Antonio. The fans have always supported us, from day one. It sucks that we had such a special group, and things may be changing and not be the same again.”

It would take more than moving Chalmers to get Green. Gerald Green though could be of a lower price range, and he has chemistry with Dragic. He's the perfect heat check kind of guy you can start the games Wade has to sit out.

Hassan shopping for a home in Florida is likely more tax-related than anything. Remember, Florida has no state income tax, meaning no double-dip in income taxes come April. Most athletes do this to keep more of their money. Don't assume he's guaranteed to stay down here just because he's looking for a home. The permanent address is what he's looking for.

i wouldnt go that far but id really like this scenario where ray can sort of mentor booker for a year. also im not so sure ray allen cant play anymore. he is an exception when it comes to older players. look at the shape that hes in!!! also the last season with us he actually played fairly well down the stretch (a time when most older guys are already broken down). id give him the benefit of the doubt if he wants to return and ill definitely welcome him on this team :D :D

Report: Teams believe Nets are willing to move Mason Plumlee

Mason Plumlee could be on the move. (USATSI)

The Brooklyn Nets need to do something, anything to improve their long-term outlook this offseason. One of those things might be trading big man Mason Plumlee, according to ESPN's Marc Stein:

And I'm hearing teams have indeed begun to inquire about availability of Mason Plumlee based on belief Nets willing to move young big man
— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) May 27, 2015

ESPN also reported that "calls were flooding in" early last season for Plumlee, but Brooklyn was not actively looking to move him. Timing is everything.

Plumlee's future with the Nets might depend on what happens with Brook Lopez. They reportedly want to re-sign the free agent center, but it's unclear what Lopez's intentions are. Lopez and Plumlee have been a disastrous combination on both ends of the court -- they played 373 minutes together in the regular season, and Brooklyn was outscored by 13.7 points per 100 possessions in that time. If Lopez does return, Plumlee probably shouldn't be a building block there.

It's just a strange time to try to trade him. After the All-Star break, Plumlee averaged six points and five rebounds in 17.5 minutes per game. In six playoff games against the Atlanta Hawks, he played a total of 49 minutes, scoring 12 points and grabbing eight rebounds. Other teams will remember his strong play in December and January, and how he fit in with Team USA last summer, but they will be trying to buy low. While the Nets should certainly explore their options with him, they might have already missed their best move.

Would you trade the first round draft pick in exchange for Mason Plumlee?

I think we can get a backup center for the minimum. I wouldn't waste the tenth pick on anything other than a wing

Hell no, we need a backup wing more than we need a backup Center right now.
