I agree. We have Melo, so we need VET role players, not rookie role players. We need to draft a guy that has the potential be THE guy in a few years. There is a reason other teams want our pick.

How do you know if anyone will even want our pick?? Someone would have to be 100% sold on Mudiay to want to trade up to #4 cause i don't think there's any other players besides him that anyone would would to trade away drafts picks or other assets to get the 4th pick. Maybe Winslow but i don't see it.

It's a # 4 pick, and it does have value. Teams will be interested. Phones will be ringing on draft night I'm sure.

I'm not saying the phones won't be ringing and Mills already said that people have already called but people are expecting us to get pretty crazy value for that pick and i'm not so sure the 4th pick will be worth as much as a lot of people are predicting it to be worth. That's why i said someone would have to be 100% sold on Mudiay or Winslow to get some real value for it. You never know though cause sometimes GM's are willing to give up pretty crazy value for a player they're sold on so it sure would be nice to come out of this draft as a winner whether we make and keep the pick or trade it.

Knicks can build through free agency around Melo and compete while adding potentially 2- 3 lottery picks in next years draft . A win -win situation.

Great value but tough sell round these parts. Perhaps in lieu of the OKC pick the Sixers move their first two seconds and Wroten to the Bulls who send their pick to the Knicks. They are liable to be a bit cash strapped resigning Butler who I believe may receive a serious offer as a restricted free agent and they could always use an extra point guard on the cheap. I personally don't want to see the Knicks walk away from a trade without a shot in the top eight or nine for a chance at Myles Turner who I believe can be a stud but the low twenties has some interesting talent with considerable athleticism, offensive upside and defensive capabilities. I'm just not nearly as certain of their future success. Great offer.

I don't see the excitement behind this trade.

1. We give up #4 without getting rid of Jose

2. Who are we picking up with #6 and #7? WCS? Winslow? Turner? Proz? Mudiay/Russel/Oka4 have more potential

3. We give up #4, keep Jose, and don't even get an impact player? TY? No thanks. Dude's about to fall off and Denver knows it

When did Ty Lawson become this great player that is enticing to everyone?

The Melo years brought us one great year, and I thank him for his time but he needs to be shopped around NOW. Not our number 4 pick in the draft.

We trade him and any of our fringe players for picks in this draft, and a first round pick in next years draft is a must, and anything else we can get. Being mindful to only take back players on short term and or non guaranteed contracts.

After establishing a young core, we bring in a veteran presence like Durant (whom we preserve cap space for) to basically mentor the team, and impart work ethic and approach above and beyond what Phil is preaching.

I would target the Clippers and the Lakers as destinations for Melo as he has established relationships with players on those teams (and his wife has serious LA ties) and would likely waive his no trade clause and it helps each of those teams. Clippers who are in a win now mode, and the Lakers who have Kobe for one or two more years.

What do you think of this approach, to rebooting our direction?

I too am appreciative of Melo's time here and I would be happy with a rebooting approach as well.

If we tried sending Melo to the Lakers we'd likely ask for Julius Randle (2014 lottery pick), the Rockets 27th pick this year, and we'd also have to take back salary, and the only guy on the Lakers roster that would make this trade work is Kobe. Do the Lakers and Kobe agree to this? Does Melo sign off on being traded to the Lakers that doesn't have Kobe? Would Kobe agree to have his farewell tour in a Knicks uniform helping Phil and Fisher develop the reboot Knicks?

Ty Lawson is not a fit for a triangle offense but would have been a great fit in the seven second crap D'Antoni employed.

I agree. Resigning Melo was a mistake and never should've been done in the first place. That no-trade clause and trade-kicker though.

I would have preferred a sign and trade in retrospect for sure... we gave up a lot for him and we will be paying for that move for a very long time. Moving him to LA where has Kobe to be the man and he can just score which is... what he does as they did in Team USA play... would be great for both of them.

If we can take on guys for 1-2 years and get the 2nd pick in the draft or trade up to 2 give them 4 and combination of picks including 1st rounders for next year... I would do it in a heartbeat.

But if Kobe, Jeanie, and the Lakers are content letting Kobe spend the next year or two with zero chance at a ring (the 6th as noted elsewhere which would tie him with Michael.... the player he has chased his whole career...) so be it.

Kobe has 5 rings, he is not as good as Michael. Accept that Kobe, or get your front office to bring in Melo and make one last run at immortality.

They definitely aren't bad, but for an undersized PG that turns 28 this year with some history of injury issues, I'm just not seeing the opportunity to get him instead of a player like Mudiay to be anything close to worth it.

No I agree with you I don't want Lawson on this team, but a team like the rockets or Sacramento he fits nicely.

If Denver wants Mudiay, they should leave out Lawson and start the bidding at Calderon + #4 for Nurkic, #7, and Gallo/Wilson.

People still want Gallo 1.0 back? He grew on me too but I think we look to prospects without such severe injury history

i'd venture to say porzingis probably has the most unrealized potential in the draft, but yes if the end up with kp and windslow aint nothing wrong with that
