Who Should Stay Or Go?

Post#1 » by co_laper » Thu May 28, 2015 12:02 pm

Copied the current active poll on Hoopshype about Lakers offseason, I thought I'd put the question here about the Spurs to you guys to generate some conversation.

Basically, who should we keep? If they're already locked up next year, who should we trade? If they're a Free Agent, who should we let go?

The guys:
Tiago Splitter
Tim Duncan
Kawhi Leonard
Danny Green
Tony Parker
Aron Baynes
Boris Diaw
Manu Ginobili
Marco Belinelli
Patty Mills
Matt Bonner
Jeff Ayres
Kyle Anderson
Reggie Williams
Cory Joseph

Williams and Ayres better be gone, I'd like to see Bonner retire and I really don't care if Marco comes back. Other than those 4 i'd like to see everyone back.

Ok, I'll play your game.
What I would like to see.

Keep (Current Players) (only trade for a really good offer/FA pick up)
Boris Diaw
Tiago Splitter
Tony Parker
Patty Mills
Kyle Anderson

Trade Bait (Current Players)
Reggie Williams (note, he is fully unguaranteed)

Bring Back (FA's) (in this order)
Kawhi Leonard
Tim Duncan
Danny Green
Manu Ginobili

Let Go (FA's) (in this order)
Matt Bonner
Jeff Ayres

Think we could do better, but willing to bring back (FA's)
Aron Baynes

Would Like to Keep but probably Can't (FA's) (in this order)
Cory Joseph
Marco Belinelli

Our big problem is that we can't put a max offer on the table in front of someone, without either a) not bringing back Tim/Manu, and/or b) trading someone in the keep pile for cap space. However, I am not that impressed with the current crop of big-name FA's, so there are worse problems to have...

I'm with Nolan. Everyone but Williams, Ayres, Belinelli and Bonner I'd like to see back.

Realistic replacements off the top of my head(depending on who we draft) could be Jonas Jerebko, Gary Neal, Alexey Sheved, Kyle Singler, Ed Davis, Tyler Hansbrough or Mirza Teletovic (depending on his health).

Obviously if we lose Danny Green we could go after some bigger fish.

Not to be a jerk but there's already a thread where this could have been discussed...

I'm coming from the mindset og going all-in = in BOLD who I keep. Splitter would be traded to make some room for LMA or Gasol

Return to San Antonio Spurs
