Thoughts on this?
Personally, firing a GM less than a month from the draft is terrible timing but Pete has been more or less "powerless" with Vlade becoming the main dude in the FO. Pete, in my eyes, has over stayed his visit in Sacramento. He is one of "Mully's" guys and I want those people GONE.
I'm fine if Pete is fired.
So, if Pete is fired, I wonder if Vlade gives a call to Petrie. Honestly, I would be open in bringing him back if there isn't any other better alternative, imo.

Pete will never receive an official "firing". He will just accept the AD job just as Mullin took the head coaching gig.
As for Petrie no thanks. Idk how much of an influence the Maloofs had against his draft picks but until he publicly states he didnt make that horrible draft day trade he didn't draft Jimmer didn't draft Robinson, I don't want him back!

Yeah, I don't think there will be an official firing myself...more like mutual agreement of somesorts..
Oh about Petrie, here what he said about his last 3 to 3.5 years as a Kings GM in an interview about 2 months ago:
“We just didn’t have any (resources), really,” Petrie says. “Most of the trades we made were to make money, and we did a lot of that. We were still trying to do things in terms of talent, too, but the economics were always at at the forefront.”

I'd take Petrie back in a heartbeat.
Vlade could use the help from someone he can trust, not only that, the Maloofs really helped ruin a stellar run Petrie had.
He was able to construct a contender, a well balanced team, people who got along together quite well.

Petrie kept his mouth shut, we need some silence with some things, to this day we only know parts of the hell it must have been when the Maloofs were looking to weasel out of town.

It was so bad man, remember the Maloofs were selling second round picks for cash straight up.
Not a future swap because it was not needed then, nor just not liking any of the prospects etc.

It was a consensus pick if I recall. Robinson was up at 2 on a lot of mocks. If I recall he "fell" to the Kings. There is pressure to go with conventional thinking

Yep. TRob was hailed as the most nba-ready player in the draft & would be a "great" fit next to Cousins. He was projected early in many mock drafts. I never blamed the TRob pick at all. If anything, trading him halfway through his rookie year is ridiculous. That trade was simply a "cost-cutting" move. Definitely a Maloofery stink to it.

If it does go down it's certainly one of those instances where they pitch how resigning looks much better on your record than being fired.
As for Petrie he was already one of the GM's past/present that Vlade has been leaning on for advice. I surprised Vivek didn't cream himself over Petrie when they met, you know how he likes the smart folk!
As yes, TRob, another example of a bad fit player who fell and why it's better to go with fit once you have a piece to build around already.

Re: Pete as a candidate for Saint John's AD job per Woj
I had a nightmare during my after work siesta that we hired David Kahn as the new GM...
Anyway, this was going to happen sooner or later. I think it's mutual between Vivek and Pete. The timing isn't great with the draft fast approaching, but it's really Vlade's and Karl's show either way. The GM on the Kings seems to be mostly a number cruncher: analytics and capology.
