NYK fan here. Congrats on a great season.

The player I think who's perfect for you guys is Noah. Rebounds in traffic, rim protection, great passer from the high post, decent mid range game. Not to mention the history with Horford and a disdain for Lebron.

I think the 15th pick and another pick get it done. Not sure if it would even take that much. Just think it would make you guys that much more potent.

^ Thanks for the well wishes.

As for Noah, i think he has been way overrated for all his career. he is a 10/10 center who didn't deserve his DPOY and all star appearance.

Noah has no offensive game. He is great at hustle plays, but average to below average at everything else.

I would rather go after Marc Gasol or keep the draft pick and take Myles Turner or Kaminsky, or Portis, if the Hawks are really that desperate for a center, or trade the pick for Monroe rather than Noah.

Greg Monroe is a legit talent we could use, and that's after we take a look at the other big names like Love, LMA, and Gasol. Not going to get one of the restricted wings, so we are better served just trying to re-sign Carroll. In the end, we really need to upgrade our talent off the bench and in the starting lineup. Making a decision on one of our PG's and moving from there would be a good start when trades talk comes around. One of them has to go.

Noah has simply been run down by Thibs and his NT duties and exposed as being less capable of handling opposing bigs than Horford. I like Monroe as a rotation big but think that at his age his ego will force him to find the bigger lights and bigger paychecks elsewhere than become a cog in a team like the Hawks. Marc is the true prize, I'd sell hard on trying to make him move a few miles east. I don't think Love and Aldridge fit because I don't think Al has the chops to cover for them defensively but if Edy pans out then that is a sick rotation to have particularly with Love and Al.

I think Marc can be got by the Hawks with the right pitch.

Marc is not a big market guy, he has been happy in memphis for years. Marc has enjoyed winning in memphis, and playing along side Randolph. with the right pitch, Marc Gasol could choose Atlanta.

I would tell Marc:
- Hawks have cap and you can get paid.
- You like winning, well Hawks won 60 games last year and got to the ECF.
- You like playing along side a great PF like Randolph, well hey, we have a perennial all star PF in Horford, who is ready to share the lime light with you.
- You want to win a championship, without you, the Hawks got to the ECF, and how much better would the Hawks be if they had you in the lineup.
- You like playing for a great organization and great head coach, we have the coach of the year in Budz
- You like playing with great defensive players like Allen and Conley, Hawks are one of the elite defensive teams in the NBA.

Knicks and Spurs could also go after Marc, but i just don't see Marc caring about the big market and he would be more concern about the losing of the Knicks. As for the Spurs, they can make a really good pitch to Marc and if he decides to go their, then their wouldn't be any shame in that, if Marc picked the Spurs over the Hawks.

People keep missing that Marc went to highschool in Memphis and absolutely loves that city. There is simply no way he is bolting.

Gasol, LMA, and Love are not coming here. I mean I guess it doesn't hurt to make a strong sales pitch like every other NBA team with cap space will do but I'm telling y'all they will not be in a Hawks uni next season.

Acquiring Noah isn't a bad idea by any means. But with age and injury concerns, plus the fact he's a Free Agent next summer...

Trading for him becomes unlikely. But I'd love to see us make a run at him next year. He and AL were dominant in college and have each carved out a real niche in this league. They are still close (I have read) and would complement each other very well.

Like you say, you should at least shoot for the stars and propose a pitch to those guys. Considering we just came off a huge historical season for our franchise, I could easily see one of those guys coming here just for the sake that they think they could put us over the hump.

I think more and more Monroe may be the guy we cuold sign and we were interested in him last year. I also think Gasol/LMA/Love are long shots at best.

At this point from the exit interviews I would guess the plan is to resign Millsap at whatever the cost, and negotiate with DMC but ultimately they are willing to let him leave.

The only way I could see bringing Sap back is of course we don't sign a better player, and also if we fix our defensive issues as far as a rim protector goes. Could even use a guy who can work down low and get you a bucket off the bench. Nobody would have ever thought of, but Amare off the bench would be nice. Doubt he could command a huge salary.

Say we re-signed Sap and let Carroll go, I could get behind signing Brandan Wright, Amare, Wes Matthews, & KJ Mcdaniels.

Korver moves to the bench, and plays with Thabo, Dennis, Amare, & Wright. Wes and KJ are added to the starting lineup.

geeman wrote:My plan if I was GM
1) try to resign D. Carroll & Millsap
2) bring over Walter Tavares for bench
3) Go after Wesley Matthews, if heathy to start at SG or a player like him.
4) Bring Kyle korver of the bench (sg & sf) ~ 20min per
5) Save his legs, he’ll be 35 next year.
6) Try to trade Dennis Schroder and the 15th pick, for the kings 6th pick and draft Willie Cauley-Stein

If we loose Carroll maybe Jeff Green if he opts out

From a Celtic fans perspective, you do not want Jeff Green anywhere near your team. He has tantalizing skills. He will flash All Star ability, then disappear for a week. They say he is a nice guy, but he is frustrating to watch.

I know having the LeBron's kick your ass sucks. But I watched you guys a lot on LP. You are close. Love Horford, I know Teague came up small in the playoffs, but his overall body of work is solid. He is at minimum a good asset. "German Rondo with a better shot" is also an interesting piece.

Of course no one knows your team the way you guys do. Just don't get in the forest/trees deal. You are good. LeBron is still near peak, and able to singlehandedly win playoff games. It sucks, but this too shall pass.

Let me jump in and play Hawks GM with you guys.

1. Millsap - Age is an issue. I also think he's very overrated in the ATL. He got schooled by Thadeus Young, Paul Pierce, and was eaten alive by T. Thompson. I would let him go.
2. D. Carrol - He's the 5th option on a team that plays in a system that rewards his style. He's pretty much one dimensional. L. James averaged pretty much a triple double in 4 games against the junkyard dog. J. Johnson was too big for him to guard. I would keep him for something under 7M/season otherwise see you later alligator.
3. Korver - He's got to be traded. One dimensional.
4. Teague - He MUST be traded. Can't control tempo and has a hard time making decisions in crunch time, I call it Panicteague time.
5. Horford - Currently our best player and let me tell you something the Hawks will never ever win anything if that doesn't change. He lacks the desire to be great or even take over a game. I would love for the Hawks to trade him to the Warriors for H. Barnes, that kid is going to be special. Maybe D. Green will bolt in the off-season? who knows?
6. Schroder - He's got a long way to go. TO machine and bad body language but actually plays with no fear and can get inside the paint and finish with both hands. He will get better, much better.
7. Scott - Terrible
8. Jenkins - See ya
9. Thabo - Should have been waived right after that incident in NY.
10. Bazemore - Decent player worth keeping.
11. Brand - Thanks for all.
12. Muscala - Should have been the first Big off the bench. That shows how bad our bigs are.
13. Mack - That's how good D. Ferry is. Mack is his worst signing (3y/10M)
14. Pero - Dude is not even worth my time.

Some of you are crazy to think that Noah is overrated. He's the best defensive big man in the NBA not name Howard.
GO HAWKS.

Exactly! I'm not saying for sure Kwahi or Gasol will join the Hawks, but its a waste not to try to make a pitch and convince a top free agent not to come here after a 60 win season. Their is no better time to make a pitch then right now. And the great thing is that the Hawks have two roster spots open up and alot of cap space for the mechanic for such a pitch to make it work.

Atlanta Hawks 2015 Off-Season Thread

Post#98 » by ATL Boy » Fri May 29, 2015 1:30 am

Under no circumstance should we just scrap everything and start back up from scratch. The fan support is finally there for the Hawks and those fans will feel betrayed if we did just trade everyone.

We have a bunch of cap space this summer. I don't think we'll re-sign Carroll but I do want us to keep Millsap. If we re-sign Paul we shouldn't do it officially (rather just verbally at first) until we get to around the $60 million cap threshold (meaning we'll be able to spend around $20 million in cap space).

It's a pipe dream but we should try to convince one of the top tier C's (DJ, Brook, Marc Gasol, LMA) to come here, and rotate Al, Paul, and one of the players I just mentioned. Maybe Millsap would consider coming off the bench if we promised him the standard 25-30 mins with him playing SF a little bit as well. If that fails, then we should definitely sign a guy like Robin Lopez to be a big off the bench.

So.........anyone interested in D-Wade? Appears there's some trouble in paradise down in South Beach over some money. Don't know if Wade is trying to recoup a higher annual amount (he won't get it) or just wants longterm security. Could be that go to scorer the Hawks need while the depth would allow him to sit those 20 or so odd games he requires for maintenance without the team missing a beat.

I'm spit balling and not entirely serious, of course> A deal for him would have serious buyers remorse all over it considering his age, reliance on athleticism and a knee without any meniscus or cartilage in it. Would only make sense if the belief is that the championship window is quickly closing.

Wade would be a perfect stop gap, but, someone else would pay him before us, Miami will work it out with him, hes not the long term solution.

But, I'm theory, yes hes the guy you would want. ALPHA, but great passer, teammate
