I didnt put Justice Winslow because I think he will be draft before 8th pick.

It's possible he slips, but certainly unlikely. And, his addition to the pole would ultimately skew in his favor anyway.

I voted for Hezonja. Seems like he has the most upside of the lot. I'd still be perfectly happy with Zinger or Stan though. I have faith in SVG's team to make the best choice available.

I voted SJ, I've been riding that horse for too long to back out now. But I would be ok with Hezonia and I'm really taking a serious look at Bobby Porter. Also, Devin Booker reminds me a little bit of Klay Thompson, and I'd love to have a shooter like him on the team, but he seems too one dimensional to justify taking him over these other guys. Any of the above mentioned I'd be satisfied with, but SJ would be my preference.

2015 Pistons draft (poll)

Post#4 » by A_dub06 » Fri May 29, 2015 4:22 pm

I voted for Porzingis.

While I believe Johnson will develop into a fine player and Hezonja has all-star potential, Porzingis not only has talents which complement our franchise centrepiece but star level potential. I realise theres almost as much risk as there is reward, but as I've stated previously I think the risk is worth the gamble. If he becomes even 75% of the player scouts think he can be, we will have a very dominant big man tandem.

Winslow is 100% my first choice although he is very unlikely to be available. Either way, in SVG I trust!

If the draft were held today the 3 guys I'd consider are Hezonja/Stanley/Booker, and right now of the 3 I like SJ, with Hezonja a close second.

i picked devin booker. i think he fits better then stanley and frank. we can look for a sf in the second round with brendan dawson , or free agency. i think adding another shooter is more important.

for the record i like stanley, frank and devin. i would be happy with any selection.

I picked Stanley just because I like the kid's youth, fire, and work ethic. I'm a little surprised that Trey Lyles didn't get a spot, but I suppose everyone can't. Portis must have gotten on because of the influx of supporters. In the end I'm really just counting on SVG and company to take the best remaining when pick 8 rolls around.

I really don't understand this Booker thing either. We have two glaring holes, and people want another SG? If that's the case, what's your plan to fill sf, and pf? Trades and free agency? Confused.

My vote was for Hezonja. His potential as a go-to wing scorer is something the Pistons shouldn't pass up. Mario would be a risky pick for sure but definitely worth the gamble in my opinion.

Rio is like Peja and Ginobilli possibly rolled up into one. Obviously he's not them but I see his potential as a hybrid between the two.

I went with Stanley Johnson, I would be ok with a few others at 8 but there is just something about Stanley that makes me really want him to be a piston.

I voted Johnson. He's been my pick for a little while now.
This is the first time in a while there's a few different guys that are projected in our range that would be good fits.
I trust SVG will make the right pick and I could realistically see Johnson being just that.

Probably Johnson but I would be happy with anyone in our range except Frank.

Passing BPA for fit is what gets players like Jan Vesely picked over Kawhi Leonard/Klay/Knight/Kemba and Terrence Ross taken over Drummond. The way I see it, we have 2 positions where the starting spot is more or less fixed: PG and C. The rest are up for grabs and certainly in need of improvement, and while KCP has shown flashes of two-way brilliance its not enough to pencil him in as the SG of the future or to pass on on a shooting guard SVG feels is better.

Really, it comes down to how people view Booker's potential. A lot of people see Klay Thompson, which seems ridiculous in a vaccum, but Booker actually compares favorably to Klay's freshman year in college and his shooting mechanics are terrific. Not much of a creator or a finisher, but then again neither was Klay coming into the league, and their combine numbers are pretty similar with Booker giving up a bit of length. As of right now I still like Stanley better but I could definitely see why someone would want Booker.

No I get that, trust me. If for some bizzaro reason D'Angelo fell to 8, he gets picked all day long. Booker? Been watching a ton on him, and picking him, would mean giving up on pope. I am NOT a fan of giving up on players this early.

Not an actual known upgrade, and unless he's going to absolutely be an all-star, pick the best available sf available. Any of the three sf's imo will be better then Booker anyway.

You know though, he seems almost big enough to play sf....

Hezonja. Right position, high potential, and not as much of a risk as Porzingis. Johnson is solid and I've warmed up to Kaminsky.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Return to Detroit Pistons
