Pellies will hire Alvin Gentry to be their next head coach. So I believe all vacancies are now filled - Skiles to Orlando and Donovan to OKC and Hoiberg to Chicago.

Thibs takes the year off or a team makes a late move to fire their coach for Thibs?

Only four vacancies this summer? That seems so low

Denver still needs a head coach too. I don't know if the Lakers will actually fire Scott to hire Thibodeau or not but they should. Byron is awful.

Yeah, it does seem like fewer vacancies than usual.

Denver needs a coach and Flip I imagine Flip may be looking for someone to take his place in Minnesota so he can focus on his front office position. So possibly 2 vacancies left. Coaches with options will probably want to steer clear of the Denver job, not a whole lot good going on there these days, I could see someone being intrigued by Minny and their cache of young talent, though. Looks like Thibs and Brooks will be taking the season off. Probably fine by them. They had rough years and more attractive jobs could be available down the road.

I was honestly surprised that the Magic signed Skiles. Gentry to the Pelicans also seemed like a hasty decision. I don't view either of those coaches as people who are going to move the needle for a developing team.

Thibs and Brooks sitting out is a good play. There will be more coaching churn next season, I wouldn't be surprised if the Kings coaching seat opens up again if they don't start 20-0.

I wonder how the league views Brooks? He had the luxury of coaching two top 5 players, and was criticized heavily on his lack of imagination in coaching.
