Camp 1: Tend to be older. They don't like all of the theatrics, such as bat flipping and celebrating strikeouts. They'd rather see those players act more professionally. No disrespecting the game or breaking the unwritten rules.

Camp 2: Tend to be younger. They love all of the theatrics. As long as something interesting is happening, then everything's fine. They don't care about the players acting like professionals. Old customs mean nothing.

I guess I'm in Camp 2. I'm younger(27)and I LOVE guys who show emotion and passion. Baseball needs more polarizing figures like Harpers, Puigs, etc.
Eric Maynor is the worst basketball player I've ever seen.

I agree with you. I'm younger than 20 (don't want to give away my real age) and I like when the players show some emotion. If baseball were smart, they'd market those guys like crazy and try to attract people from my age group to the game. It's mind-boggling to me that a lot of fans hate when Puig/Harper/Trout flip their bat or watch their home runs, but are totally OK with pitchers throwing at a player's head.

Definitely in Camp 2, and as a Yankee fan, I truly love watching the new dudes like Harper and Puig get under people's skin, since the franchise I love is so idealistic about being "professional."

The league kinda hit a lull for a few years in between those knuckleheaded Sawx teams and the breakthrough of Harper/Puig/Trout/etc. The game was just kinda boring. I can partially blame the Cardinals for that, since they're so squeaky clean and their fans are f*cking intolerable, and also put blame on the steroid witch hunts conducted in Selig's final years.

Obviously, Rob Manfred hasn't been around long enough to see massive change, but he's on the Adam Silver-ish track since he's already overseen the game-shortening pitch clock deal, and gone on record about guys like Pete Rose and the state of the game itself.

The flair is there, and with the Cubbies being led by Joe Maddon, and some really young, exciting squads finding their stride, the game looks to be going in the right direction.

Hey now, let's not go there  . I actually think that this Cardinal team has quite a few interesting personalities in Molina, Wong, and Carpenter.

BTW, I'm kind of hoping that the Royals become the new model for teams. They're fun to watch.

The circumstances here aren't similar because it looks like Gomez intentionally working the disrespect angle, so he's as culpable as anybody in Camp 1 if he thinks he can disrespect someone in that fashion.

But I would like to point out...
What happens if McCann just let's it go? lol. Do we call him a punk? Does anyone notice? LOL, the stadium is empty.
Camp 2 for me.

I don't believe there's anyone who likes Brian McCann.

I'm about 99% sure that i saw McCann watch a few of his home runs during his time with the Braves, so he comes off as a bit of a hypocrite. And I was thinking about the famous story involving Babe Ruth "calling his shot" before an at bat. Wouldn't camp 1 consider that hot dogging?

Will definitely take a split in San Fran after losing the first two. Our bullpen is garbage though.

He's only 7 percent worse than average as a hitter. You'll take that with his elite baserunning and defense.
