Winslow plays bigger than his raw height because he's got the length of power forward despite the height of a Shooting Guard. Winslow's steal % 2.8 and block% 2.9 at Duke was better than Hoods 1.3 steal % and 0.8 block % (Winslow's got active hands and the length to bother ball handlers and shooters alike). Winslow's total rebound % at Duke was 13.1 compared to Hood's 7.2 (Winslow's length and bigger frame allow him to crash the boards at a better rate). Winslow's D-Rating at Duke was 95 compared to Hood's D-Rating of 107 (Hood's rookie year D-Rating was similar to what he did at Duke in 2013-2014).

Give me the player whose 3-4 years younger, with upside to be a better player, whose also a better defender and rebounder coming out of the same college.

It's not just Hood v. Winslow. We'd also be getting WCS and a guy in Booker who could hold down the starting spot for a new and has an outside chance of being another Millsap.

That hypothetical Knicks team would never get out of the East-hell it would be lucky to get past the second round.

Trevor Booker (27) is 2 years younger than Paul Milsap (29) and is a significantly worse free throw shooter, a worse rebounder and a worse defender than Paul Milsap. There is no upside to Booker's game at this point. Trevor Booker is actually a worse player than even Clarance Weatherspoon was.

Willie Cauley Stein as much as I like him is not worth this trade at all...if my choice was WCS plus this trade or giving a max deal to DeAndre Jordan and keeping #4, I'll take DeAndre and the #4 pick.

The only way I deal with Utah and our #4 pick is if Derrick Favors was included (hes gotten better as a player each year and still only 23 years old) he's a shot blocking, rebounding big man who also scores on offense and at 67% isn't a liability at the FT line. However seeing how hard it is to find a guy like Favors in either Free Agency or the Draft, I have a hard time believing Utah would agree to this trade. If they agreed to it, I would take it and then look to add a starting caliber PG, a wing to be Melo's sidekick and a complimentary big to play opposite Favors

I like #5 the best but would want WCS at #7.

Each one of these trades have the Knicks trading a possible star for scrubs and a #7 :banghead: O&B your better than this, if the Knicks trade the #4 they better get a star or possible star.

How the hell do you know if the player at #4 is a possible star and yet the player at #6 or #7 is not? :banghead: :banghead:
On top of that you don't know anything about who the Knicks may have higher on their board. Just because some people have Mudiay at #4 does not mean that Knicks don't have him at #7 with guys like WCS, Winslowand Porzingis all ahead of them. Plus getting an extra starter back to move 2 or 3 spots down isn't a dumb idea :banghead: :banghead: it's a dumb idea not to take the extra starter if you are moving down to take your top ranked player. Regardless what some turds on a message board think.

Many of these guys have no ability to consider slide down and add extra assets type deals. They envision a dream superstar sitting at #4 and the thought of moving 2 or 3 spots is very frightening for them. They dont understand the notion that the Knick brass may prefer another player who they can get a few spots down

The problem is the particular trade with Utah that I critiqued doesn't involve "Assets" coming back to us in the form of Hood and Booker.

The point is not to win the East next year.. just to be competitive to start building a core that we can use to attract a star in 2016 like Durant, Horford, or Conley. Hood is absolutely an asset... if he picks up from where he left off this year, he'll be able to hold down the starting 2 spot by 16-17 and will only be taking up around $2m of cap room, leaving us plenty of room to chase a max.

I'm not saying I'm sold on this course. I might prefer #4 and DJ as well.

In explaining why I dislike the trade, I said that hypothetical Knicks team would never get out of the east-meaning beyond just next season. Anything involving draft and trade for me is with future seasons as well the immediate one in mind.

I just don't see the long term upside in parlaying #4 into Booker, Hood, and WCS.

clever Trade Down Idea. C'mon PhilMills.

Post#3495 » by Mason14nyk » Sun May 31, 2015 9:55 am

You decide.

More and more I think about it Knicks are likely not to take Mudiay. Personally I am not a fan of his game even though he has top talent. He reminds me of a blended Rajon Rondo/Tyreke Evans/Lance Stephenson. With Melo commanding the ball so much, you need proper floor spacing. Lack of a jumpshot kills the whole O.

Either way I think the Knicks go in another direction. Since they seem to like ~8 players, why not deal away Calderon AND 4 for a lower pick and a 1 in 2016. Sounds bizarre, but it gets us back in the draft but more importantly frees up more cap space by losing the 7mm owed to Jose and having a cheaper/lower pick. Going from 27mm to 34mm would allow us to nab two big time FAs. So a Monroe and Draymond. Moving down to say 6 or 8 would still net us Winslow Portzingis WCS Turner or Lyles.

Why would SAC do it?
SAC with Divac at the helm would welcome an addition like Jose. He would be a great fit there and even be anle to play alongside Collison at times. Plus they get Mudiay to stash as a major development piece. This trade both pushes them to a fringe playoff team immediately and set them up with a potebtial big star going forward. No brainer.

Why the Knicks do it?
My gut tells me we want Winslow. Why take him at 4 when you could take him at 6 pay him less and free up space for this years FAs AND add a lotto ticket next year? Granted I would think they would want a top 3 protection, i mean its not like we are tarding with the Knicks who unprotect every pick they have ever dealt and dish them out like Girl Scout cookies. But adding some pairing like Gasol and Millsap could become a distinct reality maybe more liekly Monroe and Millsap.

Ideally Draymond Green as I think he is a perfect fit next to Melo but I dont think the Warriors allow him to walk. Ditto for Jimmy Butler. Dmn you RFA!!! Could you imagine adding those two and drafting WCS at 6?
WCS
Dray
Melo
Butler
Galloway

Has the makings of a defensive team we havent seen ins the mid 90s in NY!

PS - bring home Kyle O'Quinn

I know... that's why I'm not that optmistic about this summer... In an era (and city) where everyone goes for his money we can't sign two stars with just 26M room... I was talking hypotetically, it's not that I'm really into it! Not at all!!

The only one who could've done that was Lebron last year... and he never did, despite saying that: "I could sign for the MLE for 29 other teams"!... Jordan and Pippen have done that in the past, Ewing too (twice less than their max)!!

But, yeah... now it's a crazy talk... even for just a fun one!!

LMA/Gasol/Lopez/Asik and Green/Matthews/Wade/Dragic are UFA...

And in 2016 we have Durant, Noah, Batum and Conley!!

2017: Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook

PS: you need to think about the flexibility in the future... it's not an easy task to assemble a championship contending team!
