I can't do this because Kemba Walker's O-Rating of 102 and D-Rating of 108 doesn't make us a better team. He's a 39% shooter from the field and 30% shooter from 3s. I liked him at UCONN, hate him in the NBA. All we've done is ensured that UCONN fans have a reason to watch one of their overrated NBA players play for a local team.

Kemba may be better off with better shooting teammates... When you line up with Bismack Biyombo, Al Jefferson, Kidd-Gilchrist and Stephenson... no one is shooting beyond 15 feet.

He might be better, but would you want to trade down from #4 to #9 see if optimism prevails (not trying to be a jackass, I'm seriously asking the question)?

It looks like we are getting a guard in the draft. I'd be very happy with a haul of Robin Lopez (10 mill), Millsap (13 mill) and Middleton (7 mill). We add either Russell or Mudiay through the draft. Our team would look something like:

Galloway/ Calderon/ Mudiay
Middleton/ Sved
Melo/ Early/ mini Greek
Millsap/ Amundson
Lopez/ Bargnani/ Aldridge

I obviously would prefer LMA or Gasol but I'm thinking of a realistic haul for the Knicks and one I would support. We have to build a decent team before any superstar will come here but if we sign everyone to appropriate contracts we will have a lot of flexibility moving forward. Our defense would improve about 10 fold.

I like the thought process improve and still have flexibility for another star.

What about some old veterans?
Team AARP

Richard Jefferson (Made less than $1 mil last season)

Ray Allen (Still deciding if he still wants to play, but will probably only come back to play for a contender, so if we build a good enough roster maybe we can convince him)

Emeka Okafor (He sat a year out to get healthy from surgery, and while we couldn't get the Okafor we were expecting he could be a decent consolation prize)

Elton Brand (“I got to make a decision if I’m going to play and come back,’’ Brand said. “[The Knicks] are definitely on the radar for sure. Yeah, I’m thinking about it. Moving on to something else, but I still also love to play and still feel good. I’m going to look at both options.” New York Post - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors/tag/elton_b ... rNkPf.dpuf)

Just to help fill out our roster after we sign some max guys.

Wesley Matthews is the best option for us... His injury is very concerning, but talent wise he's the best fit at SG. He can shoot pretty well, is a great man-to-man defender, great leadership and has improved his passing and post-up/mid-range game a lot these last two seasons, which is a big plus to have in our triangle system!... Also he'd cost less then the RFA and would put us in a good situation to have enough money to max out Gasol (or even his buddy LMA)! PS: Jose must go for that to happen, though!!

Mudiay
Matthews
Melo
Gasol

=> If we play Melo at 4, then you sign Carroll... if we play him at 3 than Brandon Bass (or David West if he opts-out)

Dream scenario: if Porty agrees to do a SnT with us then we could afford a better player than Carroll!!

Would I? If 1-3 goes Towns, Moody, Russ... I might think about it. Not a big fan of Okafor at all and Winslow I believe will be a high end role player (less athletic Iguodala/Ariza) at 9 you are guaranteed one of Towns,Mudiay,Russel,Okafor,Winslow,WCS,Mario,Porzingas,Kaminsky,Turner,Johnson. All of those guys could be in that same echelon (I'd only know if I got to see personal workouts, but still..).

At the end of the day: I don't mind Calderon enough to move down for a lesser chance of a star. So I guess I would decline, but depending on the thermostat of Free Agency and the system you want it could be great.
If we had Mike D'Antoni, I would probably take the deal.

FU*K NO!! Noel is not worth the 4th pick alone!

How about we give you Calderon, THJ, and the 4th for Noel and the 3rd.......

http://dailyknicks.com/2015/05/31/knicks-exploring-trade-options-jose-calderon/

While I know I said the No. 4 pick would not be involved, here’s what I’m proposing: :o

Knicks get: 3rd pick overall in the 2015 NBA Draft

76ers get : 4th pick overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, Jose Calderon, Tim Hardaway Jr. 2018 second round pick, 2019 second round pick.

The Knicks would do this because they would move into the Top 3 and unload Jose Caldron’s contract.

The 76ers, meanwhile, would do this because they may not be sold on either Mudiay or Russell and having the Knicks pick one of the two guards first takes some pressure off of them. On top of that, they have mountains of cap room and huge needs at both guard and wing positions, specifically for offensive-minded shooters like Calderon and Hardaway Jr. Adding those two future 2nd round picks are deal sweeteners for a team that loves to stack up on assets.

===================================================================================================

Knicks still get a PG and unload Calredon and Hardaways contracts giving them more cap space. I don't like giving up the second round picks but this will allow us to sign more of the free agents we want.

Realistically this is about right, Middleton/Green/ or Carrol, I wouldn't change a thing about this lineup. This is the type of squad that would change the face of N.Y. I would kill love to get this lineup and we would fight for a top spot in the east.

 Wait Wait Wait, in a draft where truthfully the #1 pick isn't that far off from the 4th, and #3 and #4 are pretty much a coin flip you would want the Knicks to throw you Calderon, THJ, and 2 second rd picks? You do know that I. Thomas is no longer our GM, and in fact I believe he would hang up too. I prefer to keep what we have, I don't understand why people feel that Calderon is just a throw away. His only issue has been health in which it was two different injuries (not career threatening), and defense. He's still a very smart player and his contract is pretty equal to other players with his stats. I don't feel he would be talked about this much if he was healthy.
